Sr. Product Owner
Job Description
Provation is seeking a Sr. Product Owner to help ensure product and feature development delivers clear value to customers and the business. This onsite role in Phoenix, AZ focuses on shaping outcomes through strong stakeholder alignment, owning and prioritizing the product backlog, and defining requirements and acceptance criteria. You will also use KPIs to track impact and help identify opportunities for emerging technologies, including AI-enabled capabilities.
Compensation: USD 109,700 - 183,200 per year. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of the total compensation package.
Responsibilities
- Partner with stakeholders to translate future vision and requirements into well-defined epics and stories, ensuring alignment with product goals and considering emerging technologies where appropriate.
- Serve as the primary connection between the development team and stakeholders, communicating progress, changes, and updates regularly.
- Work with one or more Agile Development Teams as a central reference for system and product functionality decisions.
- Demonstrate a track record of delivering results in fast-moving, demanding environments.
- Own and maintain the product backlog, prioritizing features, user stories, and tasks based on business value, customer needs, market trends, and strategic opportunities.
- Continuously groom and refine the backlog based on feedback, changing priorities, and new insights, incorporating input from stakeholders and end-users.
- Break down high-level requirements into detailed, implementable user stories that meet strong Agile standards and support workflows, automation, and decision support where applicable.
- Define clear acceptance criteria so the team understands what “done” means for each feature.
- Collaborate with UX to ensure backlog items include wireframes and UI designs ready for sprint planning; provide design feedback, participate in design sprints, and support user acceptance testing.
- Participate in sprint planning to select stories and tasks and ensure the team has a clear understanding of scope.
- Collaborate with the team and stakeholders to plan and prioritize releases aligned with market needs and business goals.
- Ensure delivery quality by accepting or rejecting work during sprint reviews.
- Identify and mitigate delivery risks, partnering with the release manager on timelines, mitigation strategies, and transparent escalation to leadership.
- Assist in developing and presenting business cases for new features and initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and stakeholder expectations.
- Define KPIs and measures to track feature and capability impact and guide decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
- 4-7 years of relevant work experience
- Experience using Product and Development tools such as ADO and Jira (or similar tools)
- Healthcare and technical expertise are highly preferred, including experience with data, API integrations, and interoperability standards such as HL7 and FHIR
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including using data and metrics to evaluate outcomes and assess opportunities related to emerging technologies, including AI-enabled capabilities
- Leadership and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities
- Understanding of industry, market trends, and customer needs
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong collaboration skills across Engineering, UI/UX, Product Management, leadership, and internal and external stakeholders
- Travel up to 30%
