Technical Product Owner – Specialty Lending
Job Description
Lead end-to-end product delivery for technology capabilities that support commercial real estate (CRE) lending and the specialty lending ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Drive delivery team priorities through PI planning, sprint planning, and other agile ceremonies, aligned to the larger experience platform priorities and vision set by product management
- Partner with product managers to articulate product strategy to the delivery team
- Deliver new and improved experiences by collaborating with delivery, experience design, business, and operations partners
- Author and maintain the team backlog of user stories; act as subject matter expert for features, user stories, and product capabilities
- Triage critical issues and communicate consistently with all involved parties
- Serve as key resource to development teams for questions, clarifications, and business validation focused on fitness for use
- Provide leadership updates on epic and feature delivery schedules, including dependencies affecting deliverables and recommended solutions
- Collaborate with solution architects and technical leads to ensure solutions address program priorities while balancing client experience and technical integrity
- Facilitate sprint planning with stakeholder groups to align on feature build timing and visibility; ensure adherence to the product roadmap and enterprise strategic themes
- Facilitate sprint demos and provide final acceptance for completed user stories, ensuring acceptance criteria are met and the work satisfies the team definition of done
- Coordinate creation of release-specific business documents, including support model definitions, go/no-go approvals, internal release notes, and related living documents
- Support Product Management Lifecycle (PML) process and procedures, including security, risk, audit activities; ensure action items and deadlines are met and partner on evidence for recommendations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, design, or technology (or related field) or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
- 5+ years of banking, financial services, digital, or other relevant work experience
- 3+ years of product, analysis, technology, and/or design experience
- 3+ years of leading cross-functional teams
- Experience defining and delivering digital business initiatives to execute a product roadmap
- Technical acumen and ability to align product and technology roadmaps with the technology organization
- Ability to translate strategic plans into tactical daily actions for execution
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams without formal authority
- Comfort managing concurrent projects in a fast-based, results-driven environment
- Comfort working independently in ambiguous situations and making independent decisions
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data and trends, diagnose problems, and recommend action plans
- Excellent presentation, facilitation, communication, and negotiation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Agile certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM), or SAFe Agilist (SA)
- Experience supporting CRE platforms and lending operations
- Knowledge of construction lending, income-producing properties, investor-owned real estate, and commercial mortgage products
- Expertise in requirements management, business process analysis, and product ownership
- Consulting or business transformation experience and hands-on experience leveraging AI, GenAI, intelligent document processing, automated spreading, financial statement analysis, covenant monitoring, workflow orchestration, and digital lending solutions
- Combine deep lending domain knowledge with modern product management practices to deliver scalable, compliant, data-driven solutions supporting specialty lending capability evolution
