Job Description

The Hartford is building cloud-based data modernization capabilities for Global Specialty Data, and this role sits at the intersection of business, technology, and data. As an Agile Product Owner (Data Product Owner), you will help define and deliver data products that improve decision-making, operational efficiency, and customer experiences, while partnering across teams to turn modernization goals into sprint execution.

Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)
Work arrangement: Hybrid or Remote. If you live near an office location, expect in-office work 3 days per week (Tuesday through Thursday). If you do not live near an office, the arrangement is remote with an expectation to come into the office as business needs arise.

What you’ll do

  • Lead day-to-day agile product execution for one or more agile teams supporting Data Modernization initiatives.
  • Translate data product vision and modernization objectives into sprint goals, prioritized stories, and measurable outcomes.
  • Own the data product backlog, ensuring items are clear, ready, and aligned to business value.
  • Break down features into user stories with clear acceptance criteria and definition of done.
  • Partner with engineering and architecture teams to define and deliver cloud-based data products and capabilities.
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities across data quality, accessibility, usability, and scalability.
  • Accept completed stories and validate delivered solutions meet expectations and create business value.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer, business, and data consumer within the agile team(s).
  • Work with Agile Product Managers, business leaders, and stakeholders to refine priorities and roadmap objectives.
  • Gather feedback from demonstrations and stakeholders to guide future iterations.
  • Align with Scrum Masters, Architects, Tech Leads, Data Engineers, Analysts, and stakeholders to support delivery readiness.
  • Collaborate with SMEs and business partners to clarify requirements and drive shared understanding, including data definitions, ownership, business context, and expected outcomes.
  • Partner with Data Steward to create and maintain product documentation, business definitions, and requirements to support transparency and adoption.
  • Support business readiness and change management tied to new data products and capabilities.
  • Monitor delivery metrics, product outcomes, and team health to surface improvement opportunities and maintain alignment to OKRs, modernization objectives, and value stream goals.

What you’ll bring

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in a product owner, business analyst, digital, technology, or related role.
  • Analytical mindset, with comfort using data to inform decisions and validate outcomes.
  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks such as SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, or XP and tools including JIRA, Rally, and Microsoft products.
  • Foundational understanding of data concepts including data flows, data products, analytics, reporting, and cloud-based data platforms.
  • Exposure to technologies such as Snowflake, business intelligence platforms, or cloud ecosystems is helpful, with deep technical expertise not required.
  • Growth mindset with curiosity and a passion for solving business problems through data and technology.
  • Self-motivated, able to manage multiple priorities and deliver results.
  • Strong partnership and influencing skills across business, technology, and data teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.

Compensation

  • Annualized base pay range: $100,000 - $150,000.
  • Actual base pay may vary based on performance, proficiency, and demonstration of competencies and may be above or below the listed range.
  • Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
