Buyer / Product Manager
Job Description
Capital Lumber is hiring an onsite Buyer / Product Manager in Salt Lake City, UT to own product execution, inventory strategy, and vendor purchasing.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full product lifecycle, from conception through sale
- Monitor marketplace trends and develop sales and marketing strategies
- Research current market trends and create new products to meet customer needs
- Participate in and support daily sales activity
- Help develop and implement special sales plans and programs
- Maintain program pricing pages for the sales team
- Introduce new products to sales departments and coordinate product education for Capital Lumber employees and customers
- Purchase, manage, and maintain inventory to Capital standards for turns, turn and earn, and budgeted levels using an inventory model system
- Own the inventory budgeting process and related ROA projections and management
- Manage inventory levels to meet aging targets
- Participate in physical inventory counts and cycle counting
- Research and cultivate new vendors
- Maintain relationships with current vendors, including purchasing products
- Complete other duties as assigned by your supervisor and remain flexible with changing needs
Requirements
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or relevant industry experience
- 8+ years of experience in the lumber industry, including vendor relationships
- Understanding of profit and loss as it relates to sales, inventory, and overall business performance
- Ability to model Capital values and generate innovative solutions
- Ability to communicate effectively and engage customers and team members
- Drive and accountability for results in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at once
- Strong urgency for goal achievement
- Results-oriented approach with ability to make quick decisions when conditions change
- Strong follow-up skills to ensure tasks deliver expected results
- Detail-oriented execution with speed, accuracy, and efficiency
- Occasional travel required
- Physical requirements: lift, carry, push, or pull up to 5 pounds for 5% or less of the workday
- Physical requirements: stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for 5% or less of the workday
- Physical/health capabilities: talk, see, hear, concentrate, think, learn, and reason for all of the workday
- Movement requirements: sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods
- Work capabilities: use a keyboard and perform manual tasks for prolonged periods
