IT Product Owner, Product Operations

Own IT product execution end-to-end for Product Operations in an onsite Chicago role, coordinating planning, backlog management, and agile delivery oversight across teams.

Responsibilities

• Product planning and roadmap execution
  • Partner with Product Managers and business leaders to translate strategic goals into executable roadmaps
  • Create and maintain rollout plans, action logs, dependency trackers, risk registers, and status reports
  • Follow up on open actions, decisions, and commitments across cross-functional teams
  • Facilitate roadmap reviews and planning sessions with stakeholders
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and delivery obstacles, then drive mitigation strategies
  • Keep roadmap commitments, milestones, and delivery objectives visible and transparent
  • Support annual planning, prioritization exercises, and quarterly roadmap refresh activities, keeping project artifacts and documentation current and accessible
• Product ownership and requirements management
  • Own and manage the product backlog
  • Ensure requirements are consistently articulated and documented
  • Partner with technical teams to clarify requirements and support solution design discussions
  • Validate delivered functionality against business expectations and acceptance criteria
  • Continuously evaluate business processes, workflows, and operating models
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, customer experience, and delivery effectiveness
  • Apply Lean, Agile, or process improvement methodologies to optimize operations
  • Contribute to the evolution of Product Management and Product Operations best practices at Berkley One
• Product delivery and agile execution
  • Prioritize work based on business value, customer impact, regulatory requirements, and delivery considerations
  • Facilitate decision-making and remove blockers impacting delivery
  • Monitor sprint and release progress to keep initiatives on track
  • Collaborate with IT Delivery Leads and Business Analysts to balance scope, risk, and delivery commitments
• Other projects and work as assigned

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in Product Ownership, Product Management, Business Analysis, Project Management, or related roles
• Experience working in Property & Casualty insurance environments (Personal Lines preferred)
• Strong understanding of insurance policy administration, underwriting, rating, or operational workflows
• Experience delivering within Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban)
• Strong project planning, coordination, and execution skills
• Experience managing competing priorities across multiple initiatives
• Excellent verbal, written, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Work Environment

• Performed in a professional office setting
• Occasional travel, including overnight stays, to attend meetings, training sessions, or visit Berkley One offices, agency partners, and others

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Ability to use standard office equipment (computer, phone, printer, scanner)
• Must be able to communicate effectively via phone, video conferencing, and email
• Occasional lifting of materials or equipment up to 15 pounds
