A strong emphasis on leadership, collaboration with Engineering and Product Management, and a user-centered mindset will define success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a cadre of Product Designers across several product workstreams
  • Set clear expectations, define career development paths, and cultivate a culture of craft and accountability
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, design critiques, and performance conversations that advance individual growth
  • Identify skill gaps and grow team capability through targeted hiring, coaching, and structural planning
  • Define scalable, end-to-end design processes from discovery to delivery
  • Establish and maintain design workflows, documentation standards, and team tooling
  • Integrate AI tools into team workflows, establish best practices, and build organizational fluency
  • Ground design decisions in product KPIs and usage data to measure impact
  • Collaborate with the Director to evolve the design organization as the team and product surface grow
  • Fan Experience: ensure web and mobile experiences are intuitive, performant, and tied to engagement metrics
  • Design System: build, govern, and scale component libraries and patterns across hundreds of school brands while maintaining consistency
  • CMS: account for content structure, configuration, and rendering in design decisions
  • Advocate for the end user within a B2B2C model, with the fan as the ultimate quality measure
  • Partner with Engineering to close gaps between design intent and shipped product
  • Serve as a strategic design partner to Product Management, contributing to roadmaps, discovery, and prioritization
  • Represent the design perspective in product planning and cross-functional reviews
  • Bridge the gap between design vision and execution as product processes mature
  • Communicate design decisions clearly to stakeholders at all levels, including school partners when needed
  • Leverage experience in sports, media, or multi-tenant SaaS and familiarity with collegiate athletics or fan experience design
  • Scale a design team during organizational growth or restructuring
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the end-to-end design process from research to iteration
  • Design within a B2B2C or multi-tenant model and understand how configurability affects the end user
  • Show a proven track record of building and scaling multi-brand design systems in complex environments
  • Apply CMS architecture knowledge to frontend design and component-based experiences
  • Integrate AI into team design workflows as a discipline that elevates the entire team
  • Use data and KPIs to inform design strategy and demonstrate impact with evidence
  • Partner with Product and Engineering where processes are being defined and refined
  • Communicate effectively to align stakeholders, facilitate critiques, and advocate for design with clarity and conviction
  • Ability to sit or stand at a desk for most of the day and use a computer, keyboard, and mouse comfortably

Requirements

  • Experience in sports, media, or multi-tenant SaaS platforms
  • Familiarity with collegiate athletics or fan experience design
  • Proven track record scaling a design team through organizational growth or restructuring
  • 7+ years of product design experience, including at least 3 years in a design leadership or management role
  • Deep understanding of the end-to-end design process from research and discovery through delivery and iteration

  • History of building and scaling multi-brand design systems in a complex product space
  • Strong CMS knowledge and its relationship to frontend design and component-based experiences
  • Experience embedding AI into team design workflows as a discipline, not only a productivity tool
