Job Description
Capital One is seeking a Product Design Manager in Richmond, VA to lead design initiatives and influence product strategy.
Responsibilities
- Blend design craft with leadership to address complex problems, co‑creating innovative solutions and guiding the product strategy.
- Lead design projects, assign work to junior teammates, cultivate cross‑functional partnerships, and mentor to mature Capital One's product design practice.
- Balance partner and stakeholder needs with data, research insights, scalability, and technical constraints to ensure customer‑centered, inclusive design outcomes.
- Apply insights on customers, competitors, and market trends to inform business challenges and establish a shared point of view for the team and stakeholders.
- Demonstrate knowledge of technology, data capabilities, and emerging tech to inform work and help cross‑functional teams move faster while navigating technical limits for impactful solutions.
- Leverage a broad network of partnerships across lines of business to foster collaboration, incorporate cross‑functional perspectives, and drive product strategy.
- Present work across levels with a human‑centered approach, integrating design frameworks, data, and research insights to influence senior leadership decisions.
- Showcase a strong portfolio that demonstrates leadership, process, results, and impact.

- Minimum five years of experience in a Product Design role.
- Minimum five years of experience with design and prototyping tools, notably Figma.

- Product Design Expertise: Exhibit advanced skills across interaction, visual, and service design; collaborate with cross‑functional partners to select appropriate tools, platforms, frameworks, and design systems, creating artifacts such as journey maps, blueprints, high‑fidelity designs, and prototypes.
- Leadership: Oversee design projects, delegate work to junior team members, build strong cross‑functional partnerships, and mentor to mature the product design practice.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum five years of experience in a Product Design role.
- Minimum five years of experience with design and prototyping tools, specifically Figma.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Six or more years in a Product Design role.
- Six or more years using design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
- Experience contributing to an established design system.
- Experience collaborating with product, technology, and business partners.
- Experience leading design projects or teams.
- Experience working in data‑heavy, heavily regulated environments.
