Product Design Manager - Experience Design Team
Job Description
Capital One is seeking a Product Design Manager to lead the Experience Design team in New York, onsite. Based in the city, this role blends design leadership with strategic thinking to deliver human-centered product solutions, mentor designers, and influence product direction. The position offers a salary range of USD 179,700 to 205,100 per year.
Responsibilities
- Combine design craft and leadership with an understanding of customers and the business to co-create innovative solutions and influence product strategy.
- Demonstrate product design expertise across interaction, visual and service design; work with cross-functional partners to determine tools, platforms, frameworks, and design systems, and produce artifacts such as journey maps, blueprints, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes.
- Lead design projects, direct and delegate work to more junior team members, build strong partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders, and mentor to mature Capital One's product design practice.
- Navigate partner and stakeholder needs using critical thinking that weighs data, research insights, scalability and tech constraints, ensuring the team focuses on customer-centered, inclusive design.
- Apply product and process knowledge along with insights on customers, competitors and market trends to shape business challenges and establish a shared point of view for the team, partners and stakeholders.
- Leverage knowledge of tech, data capabilities and emerging technologies to inform work and help the cross-functional team move faster while navigating technical limitations.
- Foster collaboration by leveraging a broad network across lines of business, sharing solutions, and incorporating cross-functional perspectives to bridge information gaps and drive product strategy.
- Present work across levels and roles using a human-centered approach that integrates design frameworks, data and research insights to articulate a point of view that informs senior-level decisions.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of experience in a product design role.
- At least five years of experience using design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
- Six or more years of experience in a product design role.
- Six or more years of experience using design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
- Experience contributing to an established design system.
- Experience collaborating with product, tech and business partners.
- Experience leading design projects or teams.
- Experience working in heavily regulated, data-heavy problem spaces.
