Product Manager - Scholar Gateway
Job Description
At Wiley, the Scholar Gateway team is building an AI-driven scholarly content platform that anchors AI agents to peer-reviewed sources. The Product Manager will own defined areas of the roadmap, oversee content ingestion and lifecycle, and manage partner onboarding within this technically sophisticated product. This onsite role is based in Hoboken, NJ, offering the opportunity to shape how AI-powered scholarly discovery is structured and delivered.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive defined segments of the Scholar Gateway roadmap, guiding work from problem framing through delivery and iteration.
- Own product capabilities for content ingestion and lifecycle management, defining how scholarly content is organized and maintained for AI-driven discovery.
- Lead end-to-end workflows to onboard partners efficiently.
- Collaborate closely with engineering to shape platform capabilities where technical approaches and product expectations are still taking shape.
- Use qualitative and quantitative inputs (customer feedback, usage signals, partner needs) to inform prioritization and decision-making.
- Create demos, release notes, and lightweight documentation to support customer understanding and adoption.
- Partner with support and operations to address customer-impacting issues and ensure a seamless product experience.
Requirements
- At least 3–4 years of product management experience.
- Proven ability to own and deliver discrete areas of a product roadmap from discovery through execution.
- Strong product judgment and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and nontechnical teams.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using data to inform prioritization and tradeoffs.
- Experience working on technically complex, platform-oriented products (APIs, services, integrations).
- Confidence working with AI-enabled products and a conceptual understanding of how external content informs AI responses.
- Strong interest and enthusiasm for AI, particularly as related to applications in research and scholarly communication.

The Product Manager for Scholar Gateway reports to a Director of Product Management and helps shape the ongoing evolution of Scholar Gateway. Scholar Gateway serves as Wiley’s distribution layer for AI agents, connecting scholarly publishing with AI systems. It enables AI responses grounded in peer‑reviewed sources with verifiable citations and DOI links, delivering evidence‑backed answers with complete source metadata. This role is ideal for a PM who seeks to own meaningful roadmap areas and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver outcomes in a fast‑evolving AI environment where product patterns are still taking shape.
Salary range
USD 89,100 - 127,700 per year (onsite in Hoboken, NJ)
