Product Manager - Specialty Play Group
Job Description
Onsite role in Chattanooga, TN supporting the strategy, development, commercialization, and long-term performance of assigned product lines. You will partner across teams to bring new products to market, improve existing offerings, and manage pricing and margins from launch through annual updates.
This position combines market and customer insight with hands-on product lifecycle leadership, including roadmap planning, competitive analysis, launch execution, portfolio decisions, and continuous improvement opportunities.
What you’ll do
- Build and maintain product strategies, roadmaps, and priorities for assigned product lines using customer needs, market opportunities, competitive activity, financial performance, and business objectives.
- Own product lifecycle decisions such as product improvement, cost reduction, SKU rationalization, and obsolescence.
- Serve as a competitive expert, tracking industry changes and identifying continuous improvement initiatives that support market share growth.
- Communicate product and service features and benefits across audiences and distribution networks.
- Collect and analyze feedback from customers, sales representatives, dealers, field teams, and internal stakeholders to identify gaps, improvements, and new market opportunities.
- Maintain current knowledge of competitive products and market pricing, and evaluate how industry shifts may impact assigned lines.
- Prepare and present product development status, plus sales history and margins for products released in prior years.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives from concept through launch, coordinating with Design, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Purchasing, Finance, and other stakeholders.
- Create business cases for new products and significant improvements, including market opportunity, target pricing, anticipated costs, margins, and sales potential.
- Ensure timely launches by managing and tracking the new product development schedule with the design team.
- Manage margins across product lines from launch through annual price increases, using product changes for cost reduction or increased price.
- Support dealer communications, including feedback, special design requests, and sales assistance.
- Develop product-specific selling tools and conduct internal and external training tied to new products.
- Work with product and marketing teams to plan and execute photography.
- Maintain product databases within CRM, ERP, websites, and PIM.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, product development, engineering, design, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- Three or more years of experience in product management or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience with market research, product launches, portfolio analysis, pricing, and margin management.
- Experience in recreation, manufacturing, construction, or related industries is beneficial.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook, plus business systems such as ERP, CRM, product-information, project-management, and data-analysis platforms.
- Ability to manage margins with multiple and complex cost and pricing structures.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift and transport trade show materials and collateral.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Focused and motivated work ethic.
