Product Owner / Senior Business Analyst
Job Description
Bridgenext Digital Engineering is hiring a Product Owner / Senior Business Analyst for a hybrid role in Boston, MA. You will partner with a global financial services client to support a U.S. retirement platform, translating business strategy and regulatory change into prioritized epics and user stories while guiding delivery teams through build, test, and release.
In this position, you will own backlog and requirements across participant, plan sponsor, and advisor-facing capabilities. You will also make the product decisions needed to drive adoption and measurable outcomes while maintaining requirements traceability and alignment with compliance and audit expectations.
Role overview
- Own and prioritize the product backlog across participant, plan sponsor, and advisor-facing retirement capabilities, balancing business value, regulatory deadlines, risk, and delivery effort.
- Lead discovery with business, operations, compliance, and technology stakeholders to understand current-state recordkeeping and servicing processes, identify pain points, and reconcile competing priorities.
- Elicit and document requirements, including business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and data mappings for defined contribution plan lifecycle activities (enrollment, contributions, investment elections, loans, withdrawals and distributions, rollovers, and plan onboarding or conversions).
- Perform gap and fit analysis between current and target state platforms, including vendor configuration, migration, and modernization initiatives.
- Translate regulatory and legislative changes into platform requirements in partnership with Compliance and Legal, including SECURE Act, SECURE 2.0, ERISA, DOL, and IRS requirements.
- Define MVP scope and release roadmap (what is in, what is explicitly out, and why) to balance time-to-value with long-term product vision.
- Partner with scrum teams through sprint planning, backlog refinement, demos, and PI planning, and manage dependencies across platform, integration, data, and vendor teams.
- Design integrations for upstream and downstream touchpoints without assuming control over them, including payroll feeds, trustee and custodian systems, third-party administrators (TPAs), and advisor platforms.
- Lead UAT strategy and release readiness, including test scenarios, defect triage, go-live support, and ensuring changes meet compliance and audit expectations.
- Use performance insights to shape digital experience improvements, leveraging participant behavior data, call-driver analysis, sponsor feedback, and defined KPIs.
- Identify and mitigate key risks related to regulatory deadlines, data conversion and reconciliation, stakeholder alignment, and operational readiness.
- Maintain traceability and communication by keeping documentation current and communicating status, risks, and trade-offs to senior business and technology leaders.
Qualifications
- 8+ years as a Product Owner or Senior Business Analyst, including at least 4 years focused on U.S. defined contribution retirement or workplace savings.
- Hands-on delivery experience on an enterprise retirement recordkeeping or participant servicing platform (for example: Fidelity, Empower, Voya, Principal, Vanguard, Alight, Transamerica, Relius, or equivalent), with direct ownership of requirements/backlog/features on the platform itself.
- Strong defined contribution domain fluency across 401(k), 403(b), and 457 plan design, eligibility, auto-enrollment and auto-escalation, employer match, vesting, loans, hardship withdrawals, RMDs, rollovers, QDIA, and nondiscrimination testing.
- Proven ability to translate regulatory mandates (including SECURE and SECURE 2.0) into platform requirements and deliver on schedule.
- Agile/Scrum or SAFe experience as a Product Owner, including backlog ownership, story writing, and prioritization frameworks.
- Consulting mindset to run stakeholder workshops, navigate ambiguity, build consensus across business and IT, and respond to pushback constructively.
- Communication strength to translate business needs into technical requirements and technical constraints back into business terms.
- Scoping experience for MVPs under tight timelines while preserving long-term scalability and extensibility.
- Analytical capability, including working knowledge of SQL for data validation and analysis.
