Product Owner, SMB Originations & Onboarding
Job Description
Valley National Bank is seeking a Product Owner for SMB originations and onboarding. The role translates business objectives into prioritized digital requirements, maintains the product backlog, defines user stories, and drives Agile delivery to support seamless, compliant digital onboarding and customer journeys. This on-site position is based in New York, NY, with a salary range of USD 85,200 to 147,200 per year.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the product roadmap by translating strategic objectives into prioritized requirements, balancing customer experience, business goals, risk, and operational needs.
- Own and optimize end-to-end digital journeys from acquisition through activation, identifying friction points and improving conversion, usability, and overall experience.
- Define and monitor KPIs such as conversion, onboarding completion, activation, and retention; leverage data, customer insights, and experimentation (A/B testing) to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead product delivery through Agile practices by partnering with Technology and Design, managing the backlog, and ensuring high-quality execution and post-launch optimization.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with business, Risk, Compliance, Marketing, Operations, and Analytics to ensure solutions meet regulatory and organizational requirements.
- Monitor live product performance, proactively resolve issues, and maintain alignment with governance standards while capturing insights and best practices for future enhancements.

- Experience working cross-functionally with technology, business, and operational teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in financial services, digital banking, lending, or customer onboarding.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance considerations in lending, onboarding, or digital banking.
- Experience working in agile or iterative development environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Analytics, or a related field.
