Sr Product Owner

Own product outcomes for agile digital delivery, translating stakeholder needs into a prioritized backlog, clear acceptance criteria, and actionable roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Build a collaborative team culture by ensuring everyone understands their role in the product ownership process.
• Apply product ownership soft skills including attention to detail, teamwork, and problem solving.
• Lead agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews) and continue assessing effectiveness of team ceremonies.
• Partner with development to ensure user stories for digital products are clearly understood and have appropriate acceptance.
• Maintain alignment with stakeholder needs by building a working relationship with the development lead.
• Own and maintain a prioritized product backlog for digital products, including epics, features, and user stories.
• Continuously refine and groom the backlog to keep product requirements clear and current.
• Write and own acceptance criteria for digital product work.
• Define and prioritize digital product features and enhancements based on the product manager product vision.
• Create and maintain a product roadmap outlining timelines for key product milestones.
• Collaborate with UX designers and developers to support a seamless, engaging user experience across digital products.
• Reinforce user-centered design principles and best practices.
• Act as a communication bridge between technology functions and product managers to surface key issues, close perception gaps, and resolve questions.
• Communicate product updates and status to the appropriate audiences.
• Provide mentorship by guiding teams and fostering collaboration; share experience and best practices with other product owners.
• Work with product managers to turn market insights into actionable product improvements for digital products.
• Identify opportunities for process or technology improvements within the team.
• Challenge and align with product managers to reach an ideal outcome for product delivery.
• Collaborate with product managers to ensure required documentation exists and that training and support materials are available.

Requirements

• 4-year degree in IT, Engineering, or Business Management (minimum) OR equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience as a Product Owner on an agile software product team.
• Product Owner certification (e.g., CSPO).
• Passion for technology and a strong understanding of market trends and customer needs in the digital product space.
• Familiarity with product management tools: ADO, Jira, Trello, Lucid, and Confluence.
• Knowledge of UX/UI design principles and best practices for digital products.
• Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with program governance using both waterfall and agile methodologies, including managing large, complex projects.
• Ability to quickly learn business processes and provide strategic insight and guidance.
• Ability to gather requirements from business partners.
• Ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable work for development teams.
• Background collaborating with custom development teams.
• Ability to simplify complex concepts into concise verbal and written communication.
• Evidence of strategic thinking and experience executing in fast-paced cross-functional environments.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and organize.
• Experience working with Azure native applications.
