Production Manager/Line of Product Manager
Job Description
This role provides accountable leadership to a Line of Product Team, Manufacturing Engineer, Materials Coordinator, and direct workforce, guiding continuous improvement activities to achieve annual strategic goals.

Salary
$80,000 - $90,000 per year
Responsibilities
- Lead cross functional continuous improvement initiatives across the line of product to meet annual strategic objectives, including hiring, coaching, and managing staff.
- Regularly coach and mentor team members; communicate progress toward strategic goals and provide individual feedback.
- Oversee Line of Product performance to align with financial targets and strategic aims.
- Uphold knowledge of company policies and procedures and engage in policy dialogue as needed.
- Analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and related records to determine requirements and assess current estimates and outputs.
- Maintain inventory controls for the line to satisfy customer and company demand.
- Plan work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to achieve production goals.
- Establish standards, budgets, production goals, and rates based on policies, equipment, labor availability, and workloads.
- Set product quality standards and direct testing or review raw material samples to ensure finished goods meet specifications.
- Direct or coordinate production, processing, distribution, or marketing activities.
- Hire, train, evaluate, or discharge staff and resolve personnel issues.
- Communicate and implement safety policies and standards.
- Develop or implement production tracking or quality control systems and analyze reports to identify problems.
- Prepare and maintain production reports or personnel records.
- Review plans with research or support teams to develop new products or processes.
- Develop budgets or approve expenditures for supplies, materials, or human resources to use resources efficiently and meet targets.
- Stay current on quality control practices and relevant literature related to materials or statistical studies.
- Coordinate or recommend maintenance or modification procedures for facilities or equipment, including machine replacements.
- Conduct site audits to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Develop or enforce procedures for normal operation of manufacturing systems and implement operational and emergency procedures.
- Maintain records to demonstrate compliance with safety and environmental laws and policies.
- On the shop floor, spend approximately 90 percent of time with the team.
- Exhibit excellence in completing all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years in operations with at least three years in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on use of lean tools such as standard work, value stream mapping, 5S, Kanban, and practical problem solving.
- Engaging and collaborative leadership style to develop a highly motivated and effective team.
- Strong coaching and training skills to enhance team capabilities and performance.
- Proven problem solving abilities, using logic to evaluate solutions and seeking input from others when deciding.
- Business acumen with the ability to weigh costs and benefits to select appropriate actions.

Education and Certification
Bachelor’s degree, Business or Engineering preferred.
Experience and Qualifications
- Five plus years in operations and three years in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience applying lean tools such as standard work, value stream mapping, 5S, and Kanban.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a motivated, effective team.
- Proven coaching and training abilities to improve team performance.
- Strong problem solving, decision making with input from others when needed.
- Solid business acumen to evaluate actions for cost and benefit.
Physical Activities and Requirements
- Desk located in a manufacturing environment; able to stand for about 85 percent of the time.
- Manufacturing environment is temperature controlled.
- Possible exposure to diesel fuel, mineral spirits, glue, paint, adhesives, and sealants.
- Occasional lifting up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to move around, under, and around factory machinery regularly.
- Occasional travel less than 5 percent.
- No relocation required for this position.
