Job Description
Amazon Data Services, Inc. seeks a Senior Technical Product Manager to steer the development of electrical products and distribution infrastructure for its data center ecosystem. This onsite role in Herndon, Virginia partners with customers and cross-functional teams to translate needs into a clear product roadmap and to scale implementations globally for AWS. The position anchors the lifecycle of low voltage electrical solutions from concept through deployment and ongoing optimization, with a focus on profitability and expansion into new applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, launch, and support low voltage power distribution, monitoring, and switching products (for example UL891) with more than $1B USD in annual production.
- Engage with internal and external Amazon customers and support teams to gather insights and capture critical electrical and power needs for today, rack roadmaps, and new data center designs.
- Translate insights into specific product requirements, craft a product vision, and own the development roadmap for key segments of the data center electrical infrastructure.
- Coordinate across multiple teams to build compelling business cases, prioritize features, and define budgets and resources required to implement roadmaps.
- Drive ongoing improvements in data center electrical designs and communicate technical direction to senior management.
- Own the complete product lifecycle from ideation through implementation, scale deployment, and eventual deprecation.
- Develop features and deployment strategies to improve profitability and expand use across new applications and scenarios.
- Operate independently in a high-pressure environment with leadership at all levels, applying sound judgment when guidelines are not explicit.
- Product manage and own the roadmap for low voltage distribution products designed for Amazon data centers.
- Engage with internal and external Amazon customers and support teams to capture current and future electrical and power needs.
Requirements
- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
- Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy for a product.
- Experience writing documents on business requirements for new products, development proposals, process improvements, and/or product roadmaps.
- Experience representing and advocating for diverse customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning.
- 7+ years in product, program, and/or technical leadership for large-scale strategic initiatives.
- 5+ years of experience with one or more of the following electrical equipment types: Low Voltage Switchgear/Switchboards, Power Distribution Cabinets/Units (PDC/PDU), Remote Power Panels (RPP), Busduct and Tap-Off Boxes, and/or Electrical Controls.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and/or MBA or a related field from an accredited university.
