Senior Product Manager – Core Portfolio and Power Commodity Planner
Job Description
Dell Technologies is building the next generation of rack-scale infrastructure and emerging data center technologies, and this role helps shape the portfolio strategy that supports capacity growth, cost efficiency, reliability, sustainability, and AI workload demands. Based in Round Rock, TX (onsite), you will lead end-to-end planning across integrated systems and rack-level solutions, aligning stakeholders across engineering, architecture, datacenter, supply chain, finance, and business teams to drive multi-year investment decisions.
What you’ll do
- Own the end-to-end infrastructure portfolio strategy across L11, L12 integrated systems and rack-level solutions.
- Develop multi-year roadmaps that connect infrastructure investments to datacenter growth, AI and cloud service requirements, and technology transitions.
- Set portfolio priorities and sequencing across compute, storage, networking, power, cooling, mechanical, and rack-scale integration domains.
- Create business cases, investment frameworks, and decision criteria for future infrastructure platforms.
- Identify key technology inflection points and guide the introduction of next-generation rack and datacenter architectures.
- Drive rack-scale planning to ensure server, network, storage, power, and cooling roadmaps stay aligned.
- Evaluate architectural tradeoffs across traditional air-cooled systems, direct liquid cooling, hybrid cooling, and future thermal approaches.
- Lead planning for ORV3 and future open-standard rack architectures, including ecosystem readiness and deployment scalability.
- Define infrastructure requirements for AI training, inference, cloud, and enterprise workloads built around a systems-based approach.
- Develop platform transition strategies that minimize operational disruption between generations.
- Assess and prioritize emerging investments across: Modular Data Centers (MDC), Direct-to-chip liquid cooling, Rear-door heat exchangers, high-density rack architectures, advanced power delivery systems, rack-scale disaggregation, sustainability, Future Open Compute, and industry-standard infrastructure ecosystems.
- Partner with engineering and architecture teams to translate new technologies into deployable product roadmaps.
- Build long-term adoption strategies that balance innovation, operational risk, cost, and deployment readiness.
- Coordinate planning activities across hardware engineering, datacenter engineering, architecture, networking, supply chain, finance, sourcing, and operations.
- Run executive review cadence, roadmap alignment discussions, and investment decision processes.
- Establish planning processes, governance, and portfolio management frameworks.
- Balance performance, capacity, reliability, cost, sustainability, and deployment schedules while influencing leaders across organizations for alignment.
- Develop financial models and business cases; evaluate cost, capacity, power, and thermal impacts of roadmap decisions.
- Support capex/opex planning and infrastructure investment strategies, and monitor portfolio health using business, technical, operational, and financial metrics.
- Identify and drive optimization opportunities across the infrastructure lifecycle, while monitoring industry trends, competitive solutions, and supplier roadmaps.
- Engage with ecosystem partners on standards development, platform innovation, and technology readiness.
- Provide thought leadership on future infrastructure architectures and deployment models.
