Job Description

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. is building next-generation datacenter hardware, and this role supports the product development and manufacturing launch of server and rack systems. You will partner across engineering and operations to help designs translate into reliable, high-quality production outcomes on an aggressive timeline.

What you’ll do

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Engineering Design, Materials, and Rack/Server Systems Program Management to align design, materials planning, manufacturing, and quality work across the product development lifecycle.
  • Review design specifications, CAD drawings, and documentation to confirm alignment with design criteria, industry standards, and manufacturing capabilities, including leading Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews for efficient, high-quality production.
  • Create and maintain project schedules and implementation readiness timelines for on-time new product introductions, and communicate project status and readiness milestones to customer program management teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Drive NPI execution by facilitating cross-functional problem-solving meetings with Design, Manufacturing, Test, and Quality Engineering, identifying and resolving design or production issues to support launch and ramp-up.
  • Lead regular development review meetings to deepen technical understanding and coordinate design changes, providing guidance during design reviews to maintain feasibility and manufacturing alignment.
  • Oversee first article builds and First Article Inspections (FAI) for new products, document FAI requirements, analyze initial build results, and implement improvements to validate design and manufacturing readiness.
  • Coordinate engineering rework and change orders during the move to volume production, managing Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes to incorporate updates or fixes with minimal disruption to production schedules.
  • Validate and approve production assembly instructions, including labeling and work instructions, ensuring they are clear and accurate for manufacturing teams and optimized for quality and efficiency.
  • Ensure final products meet customer specifications and quality standards by working with quality and production teams to confirm correct build and on-schedule delivery, supporting smooth ramp-up of server and rack systems into high-volume production.

Minimum requirements

  • Hands-on experience guiding products from concept through development and production.
  • Knowledge of physical design (PD) methodologies for hardware or systems.
  • Familiarity with server architectures or rack-level hardware systems and their components.
  • Ability to conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews and optimize designs for efficient manufacturing.
  • Experience managing Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes and implementing design updates in a production environment.
  • Understanding of printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) manufacturing processes and best practices.
  • Strong documentation skills, including creating and maintaining comprehensive engineering documentation and Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Proven ability to interpret and review engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability.
  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing or factory environment, especially in a fast-paced, dynamic NPI setting, with a history of successfully launching new hardware products.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including demonstrated ability to lead meetings, coordinate across multiple teams, and drive projects to completion in a timely manner.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant industry experience in product development engineering or a closely related hardware engineering role, including work with design and manufacturing processes for complex hardware products such as datacenter systems or servers.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field (e.g., Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering) preferred.
  • This role is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
