Staff Product Owner - Mobile Applications
Job Description
Stryker is building mobile product capabilities within its Smart Care platform, and this role owns the product experience for applications across iOS and Android. As a Staff Product Owner, you translate customer needs and roadmap priorities into development-ready work, guiding mobile capabilities from early concept through validation, release, adoption, and continuous improvement.
You will be responsible for turning product strategy into an executable backlog for software development teams, while staying grounded in real hospital workflows and operational challenges. The position also involves planning for new mobile application development, sustaining the current application, and coordinating customer transition to the newer platform.
What you’ll do
- Execute the product roadmap for assigned mobile applications across iOS and Android.
- Translate product strategy, customer workflows, and business needs into prioritized epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and development-ready backlog items.
- Manage the backlog by balancing roadmap features, customer escalations, defects, technical debt, quality needs, and innovation opportunities.
- Guide product capabilities from concept through development, validation, release, adoption, and continuous improvement.
- Support the development and launch of a new Smart Care mobile application while sustaining the existing application and planning the transition of current customers to the new platform.
- Represent the mobile product in cross-functional and leadership discussions, communicating priorities, progress, dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs.
- Develop strong understanding of hospital workflows, user needs, and operational challenges the product is intended to solve.
- Engage with customers and internal stakeholders through discovery discussions, demonstrations, workflow reviews, and feedback sessions.
- Incorporate customer insights into product requirements, backlog priorities, and user-experience improvements.
- Partner with Product Management and design resources to shape mobile workflows and experiences aligned with the broader Smart Care strategy.
- Evaluate product decisions using customer value, business impact, technical feasibility, quality, and strategic alignment.
- Build working knowledge of assigned applications, system architecture, APIs, integrations, and dependencies across mobile, web, badge, device, and platform endpoints.
- Partner with developers and architects to evaluate implementation options, technical tradeoffs, sequencing, and delivery risks.
- Coordinate cross-team dependencies and identify technical constraints, quality concerns, and potential customer impacts early.
- Participate in design reviews, requirement walkthroughs, backlog refinement, sprint planning, product demonstrations, validation activities, and release-readiness discussions.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Architecture, Quality, Clinical, Regulatory, Design, Marketing, Support, and Project Management to resolve product and delivery challenges.
- Contribute to stronger product ownership practices, backlog quality, planning discipline, and execution processes.
- Share best practices and provide guidance to Product Owners and Product Analysts within assigned initiatives.
