Starbucks offers a competitive annual salary range of USD 157,300 – 262,100 for this onsite role in Seattle, WA, with the opportunity to shape the digital experiences that power Mobile Order & Pay, Loyalty, and Digital Marketing across Starbucks iOS, Android, and Web apps. As a Technical Product Manager, Principal for Customer Experience Engineering, you translate business problems into target metrics and epics for engineering teams to design, build, and monitor digital solutions, directly contributing to the usability and performance of Starbucks digital products and delivering engaging user experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the TPM practice for the Customer Experience Engineering team, enabling Mobile Order & Pay, Loyalty, and Digital Marketing experiences across Starbucks platforms.
  • Report to the CXE Director and partner with the TPM Manager and team to develop, document, socialize, and champion TPM best practices and processes.
  • Determine business needs, assess market demands and technical trends, solve problems, and propose solutions.
  • Align with business partners and stakeholders to balance business and technical objectives and translate these into clear priorities and stories for the CXE team.
  • Manage product planning and development through day-to-day collaboration with cross-functional teams including architects, developers, designers, and business or subject matter representatives.
  • Translate customer experience into technical requirements and product solutions.
  • Define non-functional requirements such as performance, scalability, resilience, usability, accessibility, security, and business continuity.
  • Create data flows and functional and technical specifications as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve feature performance and overall product health using data-driven insights.
  • Stay current with new technology capabilities and contribute to product solutions accordingly.
  • Recommend and plan innovative products and features, and define and analyze metrics to measure product success.
  • Establish product health and performance metrics, dashboards, and KPIs to monitor performance and post-deployment success.
  • Interact with business and technology stakeholders to understand problems and partner with technology to define solutions aligned with best practices.
  • Present options and recommendations to support stakeholder decisions and work with engineering teams to document and prioritize features.
  • Maintain strong relationships with engineering teams across Starbucks Technology and practice iterative, agile development.
  • Identify technical tradeoffs, dependencies, and constraints; validate features against goals; resolve blocking issues; coordinate solutions across multiple teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on feature sizing and delivery planning, and communicate milestones and progress clearly.
  • Align with product, producers, engineering, and QA on delivery planning; validate features against customer and business goals and acceptance criteria.
  • Partner with product managers to scope and prioritize upcoming projects into the roadmap and contribute to a cross-team digital product roadmap.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience using analytics and optimization tools to inform product planning and prioritization.
  • 5 years of experience working with design and engineering to deliver customer facing features.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience developing roadmaps, priorities, features, user stories, refining backlogs, and coordinating conflicting requirements in a fast-paced environment with diverse stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of API technologies including REST, authentication, JSON/XML, error handling, and versioning.
  • 5+ years of industry experience delivering complex technology products.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
