Job Description

This hybrid Manager, Product Design role in Plano, TX leads Experience Design initiatives and mentors the product design team to influence strategy and deliver human-centered experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Blend craft expertise with leadership to understand customer needs and business goals, co creating innovative solutions and shaping product strategy.
  • Product Design Expertise: demonstrate high proficiency across interaction, visual, and service design; partner with cross functional teams to select tools, platforms, frameworks, and design systems, producing artifacts such as journey maps, blueprints, high fidelity designs, and prototypes.
  • Leadership: oversee design projects, assign work to junior teammates, build strong partnerships with stakeholders, and mentor the design practice to maturity across Capital One.
  • Human Centered: balance partner needs with insights from research, data, scalability and tech constraints, ensuring customer centered and inclusive design solutions.
  • Business Focus: apply insights on customers, competitors and market trends to business challenges, helping the team form a shared point of view with partners and stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving: leverage understanding of technology, data capabilities and emerging tech to inform work and accelerate cross functional teams while navigating technical limitations.
  • Collaboration: cultivate and leverage partnerships across lines of business to share solutions and incorporate cross functional perspectives that drive product strategy.
  • Communication: present work across levels using a human centered approach that integrates design frameworks, data and research to influence strategic decisions at senior levels.
  • Portfolio and impact: maintain a strong portfolio that demonstrates leadership, process, results, and impact.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years of experience in a Product Design role.
  • Minimum five years of experience using design and prototyping tools, including Figma.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least six years of experience in a Product Design role
  • At least six years of experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma
  • Experience contributing to and working with an established design system
  • Experience collaborating with product, tech and business partners
  • Experience leading design projects or teams
  • Experience working in heavily regulated, data-heavy problem spaces
