Capital One’s Finance Product & Data Solutions organization is hiring a Principal Associate, Project Manager to help lead cross-functional work, governance and OKR reporting, and an AI-powered learning strategy designed to build core competencies across product disciplines and accelerate new hire onboarding. This onsite role in McLean, VA pairs project execution with stakeholder partnership, risk management, and continuous process improvement.
What you’ll do
- Contribute to the build out and operationalization of a comprehensive AI-powered learning strategy to build and scale core competencies across multiple product disciplines and accelerate new hire onboarding.
- Proactively manage and maintain the learning agenda over time to keep it up to date and relevant as needs change.
- Manage top-of-house governance and OKR reporting activities for the Finance Product & Data Solutions organization.
- Maintain the organization’s online presence and support top-of-house communications.
- Own end-to-end lifecycles for medium to large-scale complex, cross-departmental projects that impact the company.
- Ensure milestones are defined with alignment and met, with strict adherence to scope, timelines, and budgets.
- Forge relationships with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve business processes.
- Put structure in place quickly to plan, manage, and execute cross-functional project plans from initial feasibility through implementation.
- Maintain flawless project documentation and host regular alignment meetings to track progress, assign critical action items, and report status.
- Proactively identify project risks and manage complex upstream/downstream impacts across the organization.
- Use strong analytical skills to mitigate roadblocks, navigate changing demands, and escalate issues when necessary.
- Act as a strategic and tactical thought partner, using consulting skills to inform and influence outcomes across organizational levels.
- Foster a positive, collaborative “One Team” culture to align stakeholders and drive successful delivery.
How success is expected to show up
- Structure & delivery: quickly establish cross-functional project plans from feasibility through implementation.
- Outcome management: keep plans aligned to scope, timelines, and budgets while delivering on intent.
- Documentation & governance: maintain project documentation and run regular alignment meetings for progress and status reporting.
- Risk mitigation & problem solving: identify risks early and manage complex upstream and downstream impacts.
- Stakeholder partnership: consult and collaborate to align diverse groups across all organizational levels.
Compensation and location
Location: McLean, VA (onsite).
Salary range: USD 120,800 - 137,900 per year.
This role is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of the listed locations: Cambridge, MA; McLean, VA; or Richmond, VA. The posted range reflects what Capital One is willing to pay at the time of posting.

Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience
- At least 4 years of Project Management experience
Preferred qualifications
- Master’s or MBA degree
- 5+ years of Project Management experience
- Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
