Job Description

Microsoft Security is looking for a Principal Product Manager to make sure in-market customer feedback consistently turns into engineering action. In this onsite role in Redmond, you will build an organization-wide loop that captures post-launch signals, analyzes them with telemetry and AI-assisted methods, and drives qualified recommendations with clear decisions and follow-through for Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Entra, Microsoft Purview, and Microsoft Intune.

What you’ll do

  • Own the post-launch feedback process by leading a cross-functional virtual team that uses a shared, organization-wide framework to triage, deliver, and close the loop on in-market customer feedback, including both incident and non-incident items.
  • Work with partner teams to evolve the framework across the organization so it stays consistent and effective.
  • Define insights dashboards that product, engineering, field, and support leaders can use to understand status, decisions, and impact, including the underlying data model, metrics, and dashboards.
  • Use telemetry, analytics, and AI-assisted analysis to combine feedback signals, identify patterns, remove duplicates, and evaluate impact and urgency.
  • Apply automation to route feedback, maintain traceability, and shorten time from intake to decision.
  • Coach peer product managers and partner teams to adopt the process in a consistent way, then measure adoption and quality and use results to improve the system.
  • Build a technically credible customer voice by bringing together post-launch signals from support, field, customers, partners, product usage, and research.
  • Turn those signals into focused, evidence-supported recommendations for Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, and Microsoft Entra.
  • Engage directly with enterprise customers, security operations teams, or identity practitioners when firsthand context is needed to clarify architectures, workflows, integrations, technical blockers, or expected product behavior.
  • Validate and diagnose product signals with the field, support, Product, Engineering, and subject matter experts by assessing reproducibility, severity, scale, telemetry, workarounds, and possible root causes, separating product gaps from configuration or operational issues.
  • Influence product direction by translating complex customer scenarios into problem statements, requirements, and tradeoffs for Product and Engineering leaders across quality, supportability, architecture, adoption, and investment.
  • Balance customer impact with technical feasibility, dependencies, and capacity.
  • Drive decisions and closure by delivering qualified feedback to the right Product Engineering owners, ensuring each item has a clear decision, rationale, timing, and accountable follow-through, and keeping field and support teams updated on outcomes.
  • Collaborate with support, field, and subject matter expert teams with clear roles, while providing product management and support expertise without duplicating their responsibilities.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on security operations, threat protection, identity, and post-launch product health, and explain complex technical issues clearly to practitioner and executive audiences.
  • Model Microsoft values by creating an inclusive, collaborative environment that emphasizes accountability, customer focus, and a growth mindset.
  • Deliver feedback on generally available capabilities through intake-to-closure for Microsoft Purview and Microsoft Intune, working across support, customer-facing, partner, and Product Engineering teams to confirm patterns, prioritize issues, and drive decisions.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Technologies

  • AI-assisted analysis, telemetry, analytics, automation
  • KQL
  • Zero Trust, conditional access

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • 12+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market (for example, addressing product market fit and launch, including internal tools or frameworks).
  • 6+ years experience improving product metrics (for example, growing customer base, expanding usage, or avoiding churn).
  • 6+ years experience disrupting a market (for example, competitive disruption or replacing an established competing product).
  • 5+ years of experience working with data security, data governance, compliance, endpoint or device management, identity, cloud security, or related technical products.
  • Experience turning post-launch signals into prioritized product requirements or recommendations for Engineering.
  • Experience analyzing technical evidence such as telemetry, logs, support patterns, reproducibility, severity, workarounds, or root-cause hypotheses to guide product decisions.
  • Experience working with data protection, information governance, compliance, device and endpoint management, or identity technologies in enterprise deployments, including discussing technical tradeoffs with customers and engineers.
  • Experience influencing senior Product and Engineering stakeholders across organizations without direct authority.
  • Deep technical experience with Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Intune, or comparable data security, compliance, or unified endpoint management platforms, including implementation, architecture, support, engineering, or technical product leadership.
  • Deep understanding of data loss prevention, information protection, data governance, regulatory compliance, device and application management, Zero Trust, cloud and hybrid architectures, APIs, integrations, and enterprise deployment patterns.
  • Experience with post-launch product health, customer escalation patterns, supportability, adoption, or customer experience programs.
  • Experience building feedback systems, insights dashboards, regular review processes, and ways to communicate priorities and decisions across large organizations.
  • Experience using AI-assisted analysis, analytics, product data, and automation to summarize and categorize feedback, identify patterns, and support prioritization.
