Product Design Manager
Job Description
Lead product design execution and strategy influence within Capital One’s Experience Design team, combining design craft with leadership.
Responsibilities
- Act as a Product Designer and combine craft expertise with leadership to co-create innovative solutions to complex problems and help influence product strategy.
- Apply advanced product design skills across interaction, visual, and service design; collaborate with cross-functional partners to choose appropriate tools, platforms, frameworks, and design systems.
- Create design artifacts including journey maps, blueprints, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes.
- Lead design projects by directing and delegating work to more junior team members.
- Build strong cross-functional partnerships and mentor others to help mature the overall product design practice.
- Navigate stakeholder needs using critical thinking that considers data, research insights, scalability, and technology constraints while keeping focus on customer-centered and inclusive design.
- Bring proficiency in products and processes to business challenges by using insights on customers, competitors, and broader market trends to develop a shared team perspective.
- Use knowledge of technology, data capabilities, and emerging technologies to inform design work and help teams move faster while respecting technical limitations.
- Leverage partnerships across lines of business to foster collaboration, share solutions, incorporate cross-functional perspectives, and support product strategy.
- Present work across levels and job functions using a human-centered approach that integrates design frameworks, data, and research insights to influence strategic decision-making at senior levels.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in a Product Design role.
- At least 5 years of experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 6 years of experience in a Product Design role.
- At least 6 years of experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
- Experience working with and contributing to an established design system.
- Experience collaborating with product, tech, and business partners.
- Experience leading design projects or teams.
- Experience working in heavily regulated, data-heavy problem spaces.

Compensation
- New York, NY (onsite): USD 179,700 - 205,100 per year
- McLean, VA: USD 164,800 - 188,100 for Manager, Design
- Actual offer may vary based on the candidate’s location and is reflected in the offer letter.
