Product Manager
Job Description
Product Manager at Capital Lumber oversees the full product lifecycle, tracks marketplace trends, and coordinates pricing, inventory, and vendor relationships from concept to sale.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all stages of a product’s life cycle from concept development to final sale.
- Monitor market dynamics and craft sales and marketing strategies accordingly.
- Investigate current market trends and develop new products to address customer needs.
- Support daily sales activities to contribute to revenue generation.
- Assist in designing and deploying special sales plans and programs.
- Maintain program pricing pages for the sales team.
- Introduce new products to the sales organization and coordinate product education for employees and customers.
- Purchase, manage, and sustain inventory to Capital Lumber standards for turns and budgeted levels via the inventory model system.
- Lead inventory budgeting and ROA projections, ensuring financial stewardship.
- Control inventory levels to hit aging targets.
- Lead physical inventory and cycle counts as needed.
- Research and cultivate new vendor relationships.
- Engage with current vendors to purchase products and maintain partnerships.
- Perform other duties as assigned and remain adaptable to changes in the role.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant industry experience.
- Eight years of experience in the lumber industry with vendor relationships.
- Understanding of profit and loss as it relates to sales, inventory and bottom-line business management.
- Ability to model Capital Lumber values and to provide innovative solutions.
- Strong communication to motivate and engage customers and team members.
- Ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment and be accountable for outcomes.
- Capability to multi-task with multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong sense of urgency for achieving goals.
- Results-focused with ability to make quick decisions in changing conditions.
- Strong follow-up to ensure tasks deliver desired outcomes.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to handle details accurately and efficiently.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
