Job Description

Fire & Gas Detection Technologies, Inc. seeks a Product Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of our industrial safety products, guiding them from concept through development, launch, and ongoing optimization within an ISO 9001-certified environment. This position is based in Houston, TX with remote flexibility and involves cross-functional collaboration across engineering, operations, and sales, plus travel to engage with customers and international partners about 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle, from ideation to post-launch refinements
  • Lead Voice of Customer programs and translate insights into concrete product requirements
  • Coordinate New Product Introductions (NPI) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
  • Collaborate across functions to align specifications, schedules, and cost targets
  • Develop technical documentation, training materials, and application notes
  • Analyze product performance using KPIs, customer feedback, and market signals
  • Drive SKU rationalization, cost reductions, and portfolio optimization
  • Support compliance with industry standards and certifications such as UL and ISO
  • Serve as the internal product expert and deliver training to teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 7+ years of product management experience, preferably in instrumentation, fire, or gas detection
  • Proven track record leading NPI programs and managing complex product portfolios
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, product costing, and pricing strategies
  • Familiarity with UL, ISO standards and fire safety codes
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with data or AI tools is a plus
  • Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with ERP or product management systems preferred
