Product Manager
Job Description
At Home Depot / THD, the Product Manager helps define the product direction that drives sales, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This role acts as a bridge between business goals and user needs, guiding cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise software that elevates the Home Depot shopping experience for customers and store associates. The PM translates strategic priorities into actionable roadmaps and collaborates with finance, engineering, and design to realize measurable value.
Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of customer and associate needs to help deliver enterprise products that enhance the Home Depot shopping experience.
- Translate business goals and end-user requirements into a clear product strategy; communicate direction and priorities to the development team, matrixed groups, and external partners.
- Define goals, metrics, and analytics to assess product value; continuously refine the backlog based on learnings.
- Conduct end-user research to identify user stories and determine the minimum viable product.
- Partner with Finance to understand financial needs and assist in creating business plans for new opportunities.
- Monitor research and the competitive landscape to recommend best-in-class solutions.
- Evaluate industry innovations and technology platforms to advise on optimal solutions.
- Ensure the product aligns with company, stakeholder, and end-user priorities to drive sales, efficiency, and satisfaction.
- Document, review, and ensure quality and change control standards are met.
- Formulate and test assumptions through user research and testing; refine hypotheses accordingly.
- Create, prioritize, and accept user stories; integrate them into release planning.
- Make daily product decisions that drive value for users and the business.
- Identify pros, cons, issues, obstacles, dependencies, and value associated with features and enhancements.
- Participate in standups, iteration planning, product demos, and retrospectives.
- Translate complex technical concepts into non-technical language for stakeholders.
- Foster collaboration with engineers, UX designers, and other team members to maximize value and resolve impediments.
- Support modern software development practices and advocate for the end user by developing domain expertise.
- Regularly review progress with the product team, share lessons learned, and outline next steps.
- Manage cross-functional expectations and educate requestors to prioritize based on tangible benefits and user experience.
- Practice active listening, facilitate sessions, and clearly communicate the product's long-term strategy to executives and store associates, guiding short-term action.
Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 and legal authorization to work in the United States.
- 1–3 years of relevant work experience in product management.
- Experience as a Product Manager in a modern software development based enterprise environment.
- Familiarity with modern software development practices and agile methodologies, including XP principles such as paired programming, test-driven development, and continuous deployment.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, shifting-priority environment.
- Proven experience communicating with and influencing both functional and technical team members at all organization levels.
- History of working as part of a collaborative, cross-functional, modern software design and development team.
- Experience creating, prioritizing, and accepting user stories.
- Experience conducting user research and testing to understand needs.
- Experience identifying goals, metrics, and analytics to measure product value.
- Experience conducting competitive research and analysis.

Direct Manager / Direct Reports
Typically reports to the Product Management Manager or Sr. Manager.
Travel Requirements
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10 percent of the time.
Physical Requirements
Most work is performed in a comfortable seated position with opportunities to move; occasional light lifting may be required.
Working Conditions
Based in a comfortable indoor environment; any adverse conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
