Job Description

Manulife John Hancock Retirement is hiring a Product Manager for its Product Transformation and Strategy team, where the focus is on research-driven ideation, clear product communication, and coordinated launches. This role supports the ongoing improvement of services and features across client segments while helping guide the project portfolio toward long-term strategy and differentiation.

What you’ll do

  • Support the development and continuous improvement of Manulife John Hancock Retirement services and features, with emphasis on research, ideation, communication, and launches.
  • Understand and support the vision for the project portfolio across all client segments.
  • Act in a thought leadership capacity to stay ahead of trends, regulatory guidelines, and industry forces, including the technology shaped by these factors.
  • Manage the new idea intake process for internal stakeholders, serving as a primary point of contact.
  • Help explore ideas by applying relevant market research and customer feedback.
  • Contribute to the creation of north star experiences and identify key differentiators aligned with product strategy.
  • Support development of business cases and other product artifacts for approval, including drafting epic hypothesis statements to support analysis and exploration.
  • Work with the Product Analysis team and SMEs as needed to understand impacts to systems, high-level requirements, and development costs.
  • Support ongoing management of the portfolio roadmap and annual planning activities.
  • Prepare reporting and regular updates for leadership.
  • Support internal and external feature/capability rollout as needed, including execution of communication strategy and messaging aligned with market messaging, product strategy, and differentiation.
  • Support creation and ongoing maintenance of product definition documents (including new and existing product catalog entries and definition documents), ensuring updates align with product deployments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree; 5+ years of experience in the retirement industry.
  • Creative, innovative thinker with a results-oriented approach.
  • Knowledge of the retirement industry, competitive dynamics, and trends.
  • Knowledge of channel-specific dynamics: broker/dealer, TPA, plan sponsor, participant.
  • Knowledge of the ERISA and FINRA regulatory environment and DOL guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Compensation and location

Location: Boston, Massachusetts (hybrid)

Salary range: USD 92,475 - 160,290 per year
