Product Manager
Job Description
Volm Companies is seeking a Product Manager to support marketing activities tied to sourced packaging and supplies. In this onsite role in Antigo, WI, the position acts as a communication bridge between Volm sales and corporate purchasing while bringing market and competitive intelligence into product training, go-to-market direction, and day-to-day sales support.
The Product Manager will also develop expertise across assigned product categories, translating customer feedback into actionable insights that support Volm’s long-term vision and strengthen the knowledge of account managers and customers. Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, this role combines analysis, cross-functional coordination, and customer-facing product support, including travel to customer locations.
Key responsibilities
- Identify innovative product ideas by analyzing competitors’ products and assessing how opportunities support organizational goals.
- Maintain clear communication across upstream and downstream functions and multiple teams.
- Serve as the voice of the customer by turning feedback into insights that can generate innovative ideas aligned with Volm’s long-term vision.
- Develop technical expertise in assigned product categories, including leading product specification training programs and materials for sales professionals, customer meetings and presentations, and marketing campaigns.
- Support sales and customer service by developing new items and ensuring accurate, timely product details and specifications.
- Maintain items in MS Finance and Operations, including processing new item releases and submitting engineering change requests.
- Partner on go-to-market strategy with the VP of Sales and Marketing and the Director of Marketing & Communications to develop Volm’s consumables and supplies approach and oversee creation of product sales and marketing materials (including print, digital, and social media).
- Conduct ongoing market analysis, contributing to market intelligence such as market size and share estimates and identifying shifts in consumer retail packaging behavior.
- Capture and analyze pricing for key products and prepare monthly category reports with insights into sales, margins, risks, opportunities, and forecasts.
- Provide onsite support with Volm sales professionals by traveling frequently to customer locations, supporting specifications, details, additional sales opportunities, and end-user needs.

- Working knowledge of lean, continuous improvement, and quality methodologies.
- Ability to build knowledge of packaging products, supplies, and manufacturing processes, including product lines, quoting, ordering, and production limitations.

Education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, or a related field, and/or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Minimum one year of relevant experience in sales, customer service, or marketing, preferably in packaging or fresh produce industry.
- Understanding of sales and marketing practices, including financial modeling, pricing strategy, and development and use of price lists.
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365, preferred.

Work schedule and location
- Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
- Location: Office in Antigo, WI or Wausau, WI (onsite)
Travel and driving
- Travel: Occasional overnight travel and occasional travel within the workday to attend sales events, trade shows, other Volm facilities, vendor locations, and customer sites.
- Driver qualification: ability to drive a company-owned/leased or personal vehicle preferred, inclusion in the driver qualification program required, valid driver license and minimum age of 21, acceptable driving record, and when using a personal vehicle provide a copy of the declaration page from personal auto insurance showing policy dates and minimum coverage amounts as specified.
Physical requirements

- Capability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Proficiency using hands, fingers, and arms for tasks such as typing and writing.
- Sufficient visual acuity to read documents and recognize details at close and distant ranges.

- Salary: USD 56,784 - 68,140 per year (starting range based on experience; pay also references $68,140.80).
