Product Owner - API Platform

SHI International Corporation is building and evolving an API Platform ecosystem to support enterprise digital transformation, and the Product Owner for the API Platform will help define what gets built and why. This hybrid role in Austin, TX focuses on owning the product vision, roadmap, and strategy for the API Management (APIM), Developer Portal, and API governance capabilities.

Working closely with business stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams, you will translate business needs into prioritized features and user stories, while steering delivery through Agile planning and measurable platform outcomes. The role also serves as a key decision-maker for tradeoffs and communicates progress, risks, and strategic priorities to leadership.

What you’ll do

• Own the vision, roadmap, and backlog for SHI’s API Platform, including API Management (APIM), Developer Portal, and API governance.
• Partner with business stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to convert business needs into prioritized product features and user stories.
• Define and prioritize product investments to improve API adoption, developer experience, and platform scalability.
• Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, acceptance criteria definition, and release prioritization activities.
• Establish, monitor, and measure KPIs tied to platform adoption, API consumption, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
• Facilitate alignment across business, engineering, security, and operations teams to support delivery of roadmap initiatives.
• Act as the primary decision-maker for product priorities and product tradeoff discussions.
• Communicate roadmap progress, business value, risks, and strategic priorities to leadership and key stakeholders.

• Understanding of REST APIs, JSON, OAuth, OpenID Connect, and API security principles.
• Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, microservices, and modern integration patterns.
• Completed Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or relevant work experience.
• 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Analyst, or in a related product leadership role.
• Experience managing technology platforms, digital products, or enterprise integration solutions.
• Experience working closely with software development teams and technical architects.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale digital transformation initiatives.
• Experience with developer portals, developer experience initiatives, or customer-facing digital platforms.

Compensation and location

• Location: Austin, TX (hybrid)
• Salary: USD 90,000 - 135,000 per year
