Job Description
Based in Glen Allen, VA with a hybrid schedule (3 days in the office, 2 days remote), this Product Owner for Personal Lines focuses on backlog management, prioritizing stakeholder needs, and API enabled product delivery within an agile environment.

Responsibilities
- Own and develop the product backlog and the user story backlog for implementation
- Track progress of product development and plan product releases
- Engage with customers and end users to gather information on desired features
- Produce reports to update management and stakeholders on product development activities
- Analyze customer feedback to identify features that deliver value
- Contribute as a member of the product services group, align with key business objectives for the assigned line of business, and support product and underwriting leadership in achieving them
- Facilitate communication among business stakeholders, external partners, and internal technical teams
- Develop a thorough understanding of Markel APIs and perform API analysis with external partners
- Provide functional design, clarifications, and other details on user stories to support development teams in delivering a quality product
- Triaging root causes of defects affecting application functionality
- Assist in testing software solutions as needed
- Assist in developing technical documentation and training materials
- Consult with stakeholders, offering expertise on current system features and capabilities to guide approaches toward business outcomes
Requirements
- Solid understanding of API contracts, specification documents, and sample request/response payloads; able to interpret, analyze for consistency and accuracy, and produce artifacts
- Experience with insurance underwriting systems is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills; able to identify and resolve issues with minimal guidance
- Excellent verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical matters to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
