Senior AI Hardware Product Manager
Job Description
Senior AI Hardware Product Manager role on Microsoft’s SPARC team (AI Hardware Products Planning) focused on next-generation AI hardware for Azure training and inference.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with customers and partner organizations to define future generations of AI hardware for Azure
- Identify and prioritize customer needs, market opportunities, and competitive gaps; convert them into actionable product requirements and specifications
- Drive executive decision making for new investments, including:
- Competitive analysis
- Program goals and business requirements
- Architectural concepts
- Risk management strategies
- Financial analysis
- Schedule and hardware strategy
- Lead technical programs from concept through execution; partner with architecture, engineering, and business teams to drive end-to-end product development
- Maintain high technical proficiency in AI workload requirements, the AI technology landscape, and AI industry roadmaps
- Engage senior leadership by surfacing cross-functional risks and recommending approaches to support product-level decisions
- Operate effectively in ambiguity by applying process where it adds value and designing process where needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements for this role, including:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: pass upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience
- 2+ years taking a product, feature, or experience to market (design, addressing product market fit, launch, internal tool/framework)
- 4+ years improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience (growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn)
- 4+ years disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience (competitive disruption, taking the place of an established competing product)
- 2+ years working on AI systems as an architect or a product manager
- Familiarity with AI systems roadmaps from NVIDIA, AMD, Microsoft and AI infrastructure challenges
- Strong understanding in several areas:
- GPU Architecture
- Scale Up and Scale out networking
- Data Center Specifications
- Model Architecture and System Reliability
- 3+ years technical product management experience, including products within datacenter hardware systems and/or cloud infrastructure
- 3+ years creating product roadmaps from conception to launch; driving end-to-end program execution, defining product go-to-market strategy, and leading program direction discussions
Location and Compensation
- Location: Redmond, WA (onsite)
- Salary: USD 119,800 - 261,000 per year
