Job Description

Western Governors University is seeking a Senior AI / ML Product Manager to help shape and deliver enterprise AI and machine learning platforms, governance, and capabilities. In this onsite role in Salt Lake City, you will work closely with engineering, design, data, and business stakeholders to define strategy, prioritize investments, and drive measurable outcomes for safe and effective AI adoption.

What you will do

  • Define and execute product strategies and roadmaps that enable enterprise-wide AI and machine learning capabilities.
  • Partner with engineering, UX, data, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities, prioritize investments, and deliver customer value.
  • Lead discovery to understand user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
  • Use outcome-based product management practices by establishing success metrics and leveraging data to guide decisions.
  • Manage prioritization, roadmap planning, and tradeoffs across competing business and technical demands.
  • Collaborate across the organization to support AI adoption, governance, platform enablement, and operational excellence.
  • Communicate product vision, progress, risks, and outcomes to leaders, including executive-level audiences.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Professional experience: 5+ years, or 3+ years with a master’s degree, or a doctorate or terminal degree without experience.
  • 4+ years of demonstrated experience working as a software Product Manager.
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
  • Enterprise AI implementation experience, including areas such as AI adoption, governance, vendor evaluation, token management, cost management, access management, or related capabilities.
  • Experience supporting machine learning products or platforms that deliver meaningful business outcomes.
  • Experience enabling AI capabilities that are broadly adopted across an enterprise, not limited to a single application or use case.
  • Experience working with large, unstructured datasets to generate actionable insights and business value.
  • Ability to articulate measurable business impact, such as efficiency gains, operational improvements, customer value, or revenue impact.
  • Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong passion for exploring and understanding customer needs.
  • Natural leadership instincts with a positive team-building approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to define product strategy, prioritize work, and deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams including engineering, design, data, and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to measure product health and leverage data to drive prioritization and product decisions.
  • Experience influencing senior leaders and executive stakeholders, and driving cross-functional alignment.

Bonus points

  • Experience in higher education or education technology.
  • Broad exposure to enterprise platforms, developer tooling, data platforms, identity and access management, enterprise payments, or related technical product domains.

Compensation and location

  • Location: Salt Lake City, UT (onsite)
  • Salary: USD 143,700 - 222,700 per year

Process and logistics

  • What to expect: Introductory call; onsite interview with Hiring Manager; technical video interview; leadership interview.
  • Work arrangement: Full-time, in-office position requiring five days per week in the Salt Lake City, Utah office.
  • Travel: Occasional travel of up to 20%, including required attendance at designated company summits (typically one to two per year), plus additional travel as needed for business requirements.
