Senior Manager, Product Design
Job Description
Capital One is seeking a Senior Manager, Product Design to lead the Money Management design efforts within the Experience Design organization. This onsite role in McLean, VA offers a salary range of USD 182,500 to 249,900 per year and a culture that centers on human-centered design, collaboration, and design excellence. You will steer product strategy, grow a high-performing design team, and shape the customer experience across the Money Management portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Blend craft expertise with people leadership to understand customers and the business, co-creating innovative solutions, guiding product strategy, and cultivating a thriving team of high-performing designers.
- Product Design Expertise: demonstrate established proficiency across interaction, visual, and service design; collaborate with cross-functional partners to optimize tools, platforms, frameworks, and design systems, and develop artifacts such as vision stories, journey maps, blueprints, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes.
- Leadership: foster an inclusive team environment, set goals aligned to portfolio strategy, manage stakeholders, remove barriers, and develop designers to help the business achieve its goals.
- Strategic Direction: shape product direction and outcomes through deep design expertise, user insights, and business understanding; drive alignment across product, tech, and business partners to keep user needs central and enable bold solutions.
- Human-Centered: advocate for human-centered methodologies that align customer needs and business goals by applying data, research insights, and design thinking across the portfolio.
- Business-Focused: apply knowledge of products, processes, customers, competitors, and market trends to guide how Design engages with the broader portfolio, adjusting scope as needed.
- Problem-Solving: leverage expertise in technology and data capabilities and emerging technologies to craft innovative design strategies and accelerate cross-functional teams toward bold outcomes.
- Collaboration: incorporate perspectives from across the organization to support workstreams, assemble the right people to move initiatives forward, and balance compromise to achieve results.
- Communication: present work across levels and functions, using a strategic, human-centered approach that combines design frameworks, data, and research to clarify complexity and influence stakeholders.
- Portfolio impact: a strong portfolio demonstrating leadership, process, results, and impact.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience in a Product Design role
- At least 6 years of experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma
- At least 2 years of experience in a people leadership role
