Job Description

Own the vision and execution for Finance data products that support Target’s Finance Modernization.

Responsibilities

  • Own vision, strategy, roadmap, and backlog for a portfolio of Finance data products tied to Finance Modernization.
  • Partner with Finance stakeholders to understand business processes and translate needs into clear product outcomes.
  • Drive prioritization and trade-off decisions across business value, dependencies, and available capacity.
  • Lead product discovery and definition for Modern P&L, delivering a fully burdened view of profitability at the category and channel level through Operating Income.
  • Collaborate across Finance to define the product’s required decisions and use cases, identify required data and capabilities, and establish a sequenced roadmap that delivers value iteratively.
  • Own and influence Finance data products that serve as the foundation for broader Finance Modernization.
  • Work with Finance application Product Managers and engineers to define Bronze, Silver, and consumption data needs from transactional applications including MatchIQ, Partem, and Plutus, plus data required by downstream Finance reporting and analytics.
  • Approach data products as durable, reusable assets rather than one-time deliveries built around a single report or project.
  • Create product strategy, roadmap, and key business objectives (OKRs) for your product area.
  • Use product knowledge, customer feedback, and other relevant data to evaluate value, build business cases, and prioritize outcomes.
  • Lead delivery with engineers, UX designers, data scientists, and business partners.
  • Act as the voice of the product to key stakeholders to align on needs and support product team success.
  • Maintain market awareness and a roadmap/backlog with customer themes, epics, and stories, prioritizing for highest-impact work.
  • Encourage open exchange of information and viewpoints, and support others in achieving high standards while staying aligned to organizational direction.
  • Build urgency to meet goals and use available resources to navigate unexpected obstacles.
  • Partner across product teams to help them achieve their goals while pursuing and completing your own.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years financial data Product Management experience.
  • Proven strength in product strategy, discovery, roadmap development, prioritization, and backlog management, including the ability to distinguish customer needs from requested solutions.
  • Experience with data products, analytical platforms, data engineering, business intelligence, or related technology, with enough technical fluency to partner effectively with engineers and understand data dependencies and architectural trade-offs.
  • Strong curiosity and ability to learn complex business and Finance concepts, ask effective questions, connect business processes to data, and help technical partners understand business context.
  • Experience translating ambiguous stakeholder needs into clear product outcomes, requirements, priorities, and iterative delivery plans.
  • Ability to make and communicate difficult trade-off and prioritization decisions across competing needs, dependencies, business value, and capacity.
  • Experience working in an agile product environment and leading work across cross-functional teams without relying on direct authority.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills across business and technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of Finance, Accounting, financial reporting, and enterprise performance management concepts.
