Staff Product Manager, Compliance
Job Description
Fastly is seeking a Staff Product Manager, Compliance to define and drive compliance as a shared platform capability for customers. The role will set strategy and product requirements that help customers meet auditor and regulator expectations through clear control and evidence surfaces.
Role Focus
Own compliance for the platform end to end, translating customer regulatory and audit needs into product strategy, roadmap, and control plane requirements. The position also ensures customers can generate the evidence and attestations needed to demonstrate what happened to their data, including when and why.
Key Responsibilities
- Own compliance as a platform capability by defining the strategy and roadmap for what Fastly must provide so customers can satisfy compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Define residency and sovereignty requirements, including what customers must control about where their data lives and how it moves, and convert those needs into platform requirements.
- Build evidence customers can pull themselves by defining attestation and evidence surfaces used directly to show auditors and regulators what happened to their data.
- Specify governance and control within the control plane by defining what customers need to control, inspect, and demonstrate about configuration and change history, enabling consistent internal and external oversight across products.
- Track regulatory shifts that change customer obligations, including sovereignty regimes, privacy law, and emerging AI governance, and turn those shifts into product requirements before they impact deals or adoption.
- Align cross-functional partners by bringing engineering, security, legal, and go-to-market to a shared view of customer requirements, framing tradeoffs and driving decisions to completion.
Requirements
- 8+ years in product management or technical product leadership, ideally for infrastructure, platform, or security products, including experience with ambiguous, cross-organizational challenges.
- A working understanding of enterprise software regulations, including data residency and sovereignty, privacy regimes such as GDPR and CCPA, and emerging AI governance, with the ability to translate compliance obligations into concrete product requirements.
- Ability to take a compliance requirement, such as a law, contractual term, or auditor request, and determine the exact obligations while defining the narrowest product capability that fully addresses them.
- Command of control planes, configuration models, and how data moves through a platform to establish well-grounded requirements and earn engineering trust.
- Proven ability to lead without authority and build relationships that support progress across functions.
- Clear, confident communication that supports both detailed requirement discussions with engineers and crisp strategic framing for executives, customers, and go-to-market partners.
