Staff Product Manager, Engineering & Construction
Job Description
Mariana Minerals is building CapitalProjectOS (CPOS) to make capital project execution faster, safer, and more reliable. In this onsite role in San Francisco, CA, you will own end-to-end product strategy, roadmap, and delivery for the Engineering (MarianaEngineer) and Super (MarianaSuper) domains, translating real engineering and construction workflows into software requirements and AI-embedded tooling. Adoption is designed in, not sold, with success metrics tied directly to project outcomes.
What you’ll own
- Own product vision, roadmap, and prioritization for MarianaEngineer and MarianaSuper, including agentic tooling such as engineering automation, reality capture, and plan-versus-actual intelligence.
- Act as the primary domain expert, translating capital project engineering and construction workflows into software requirements.
- Embed with engineering and field teams to understand how design and construction actually happen, anticipate edge cases, and separate true product requirements from one-off preferences or process gaps.
- Write clear requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and business rules; build and test prototypes to learn quickly and focus on what delivers value.
- Use a structured engagement model (discovery sessions, workflow reviews, sprint reviews, UAT, and adoption check-ins) to make feedback, testing, and adoption measurable and actionable.
- Develop rollout plans, training materials, adoption metrics, and feedback loops; identify adoption barriers and partner with engineering and construction leaders to resolve them.
- Define and track success metrics including modeling and design turnaround time, C4 and reality-capture adoption, plan-versus-actual accuracy, cycle time, and downstream outcomes such as schedule, cost, and safety.
- Contribute to sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives while maintaining a well-prioritized backlog.
- Create transparency into what is being built, why it matters, and how it is performing.
- Help build the PM function at an AI company by shaping how the team works and developing PMs to follow your lead.
What you bring
- 5+ years of experience in capital project engineering (process, mechanical, or EPC design) and/or construction or field execution (superintendent, construction management, project controls).
- Strong understanding of the capital project lifecycle, including design basis, engineering deliverables, procurement handoff, construction execution, and commissioning.
- Ability to go deep on engineering and construction workflows and earn credibility with domain experts by understanding how the work actually happens.
- Strong product judgment: prioritize ruthlessly, focus on highest-leverage work, and avoid building everything at once.
- Capability to translate complex operational workflows into clear requirements and product decisions, and to lead cross-functional teams through ambiguity and competing stakeholder priorities.
- Genuine interest in AI-powered tooling, with the ability to translate model capabilities into products engineers and superintendents will trust and adopt, while staying current on AI advancements.
- Strong communication skills across contexts, from field superintendents and engineers to executives.
Compensation
Compensation Range: $180K - $210K (per year)
Nice to have
- Direct experience with engineering software (P&ID, 3D/plant design, datasheet or equipment-sizing tools) or construction management software (scheduling, QA/QC, reality capture, command-center platforms).
- Experience shipping AI-powered enterprise tools such as agentic engineering workflows, document intelligence, or process co-pilots.
- A track record of digital transformation in capital-intensive industries such as mining, energy, construction, or manufacturing.
- Prior product management experience, or strong motivation to move into product management from an engineering or construction background.
- AI-forward projects outside of work.
How Mariana thinks about product
Mariana operates with the goal that adoption is a conversation, not a sales cycle. You will be working on MarianaEngineer and MarianaSuper, which are intended to ensure designs stay aligned from design basis to 3D model, and to surface schedule or quality issues in real time instead of relying on monthly reports. The engineering tools you build are positioned as the authoritative source of truth for each project, while the command center is designed to be what a superintendent checks every morning to run the site.
