Job Description

The Technical Product Owner role at Associated Bank connects business objectives with technology delivery to help teams build and improve digital products. Working closely with product, engineering, and architecture partners, you will shape technical priorities, translate requirements into actionable plans, and support strategic technology decisions.

Location and Compensation

  • Location: Wisconsin (onsite)
  • Salary: USD 100,590 - 172,440 per year

Role Summary

In this position, you serve as a bridge between business goals and technical solutions. You partner across product, engineering, and architecture to define technical priorities, guide product development execution, and influence technology planning that supports long-term outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to define technical solutions aligned to business objectives.
  • Lead the creation and ongoing refinement of technical epics, user stories, and non-functional requirements to support delivery.
  • Provide technical direction to engineering teams and clarify architecture, design, and implementation decisions.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to prioritize backlogs, balancing functional enhancements with technical investments.
  • Support sprint planning, backlog refinement, and product releases by removing technical roadblocks and maintaining delivery readiness.
  • Execute against the technical product roadmap while identifying opportunities to improve scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Advise cross-functional teams on modern development practices, cloud technologies, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in information technology, including software or application development and product ownership.
  • Technical leadership: 3+ years of experience providing technical leadership or leading cross-functional technology initiatives.
  • Technical skills: Hands-on knowledge of AWS cloud services, C#, Python, Git/GitHub, SQL and relational databases, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, RESTful APIs, automated testing, React or React Native, and production monitoring and support.

  • Responsible for reporting all customer complaints and procedure violations to management or HR.
