AI Product Owner
Job Description
As the AI Product Owner within G.E.H.A’s Digital Innovation team, you will guide AI/ML product work from early ideas through deployment and ongoing iteration. This role focuses on aligning member and business objectives with technical delivery while maintaining ethical, secure, and compliant handling of data.
Role Overview
You will define and execute the AI product direction across G.E.H.A’s ecosystem, translating business needs into actionable plans for development teams. You will also partner across Legal, Risk, and Compliance to ensure AI models support HIPAA requirements and applicable privacy and ethical standards.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Digital Innovation leadership to define AI capability vision, strategy, and roadmap across G.E.H.A’s ecosystem.
- Review internal workflows and member touchpoints to identify high-value opportunities for predictive analytics, generative AI, and automation.
- Ensure AI products directly support strategic goals, including member retention, cost reduction, and improved healthcare outcomes.
- Create, maintain, and prioritize the AI product backlog based on business value, technical feasibility, and strategic alignment.
- Convert complex business requirements into user stories, technical requirements, and acceptance criteria for development teams.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Demos, Reviews, and Retrospectives to maintain shared clarity on goals and deliverables.
- Serve as the main liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, managing expectations and providing transparent progress updates.
- Work with Legal, Risk, and Compliance to ensure AI models adhere to HIPAA regulations, data privacy laws, and ethical AI guidelines, including bias mitigation and model explainability.
- Coordinate with change management and operations to support rollout, training, and adoption of AI tools for internal teams or members.
- Define AI product success metrics, such as model accuracy, user adoption rates, efficiency gains, and member satisfaction.
- Partner with operations to monitor production performance, collect user feedback and system data, and drive iterative enhancements when needed.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to maintain a big-picture view and communicate a long-term direction for AI use at G.E.H.A.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Agile Product Management or Product Ownership, including 1–2 years managing AI, Machine Learning, or data-heavy software products.
- Strong foundational understanding of AI/ML concepts, including Generative AI, Natural Language Processing, predictive modeling, and the data science lifecycle.
- Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Strong data analysis skills, with experience using performance metrics to make data-driven product decisions.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, including the ability to translate complex AI concepts into business terms.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare, health insurance, or a highly regulated industry.
- Familiarity with federal employee health benefit programs (FEHB) is a major plus.
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Pragmatic Institute Certification, or equivalent.
- Experience with cloud-based AI/ML platforms (Azure AI, Google Cloud AI, AWS SageMaker) and modern data architecture (Kafka, Snowflake, Fabric).
Work-At-Home Requirements
- Must provide a non-cellular high-speed internet service such as Fiber, DSL, or cable modems.
- Minimum speed requirement for optimal performance: 30 x 5 (30 Mbps download x 5 Mbps upload).
- Latency (ping) response time must be lower than 80 ms.
- Hotspots, satellite, and wireless internet service are not allowed.
- Must have a dedicated space with minimal ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
Compensation
- Target hiring range: $95,118 - $120,330 USD per year.
- G.E.H.A maximum salary for this role: $134,082 USD.
- Initial compensation may vary based on experience and qualifications, with a path to move toward the top rate through performance and continued growth.

This is a remote opportunity located in Missouri (remote). G.E.H.A is headquartered in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, in the Kansas City area, and offers hybrid and work-from-home options for many roles.
