Principal Product Operations Manager - Launches
Job Description
Socure is hiring an onsite Principal Product Operations Manager - Launches in Seattle, WA to build and lead a Launch Operations function within Product Strategy & Operations. In this senior role, you will create the launch visibility and accountability system that helps cross-functional teams execute on time, with clear ownership and transparent status from major PR and investor launches to smaller feature releases.
This position starts with you operating as the senior individual contributor, establishing the launch cadence and the checklist operating model. Over time, you will grow the function into a small team that keeps the product org aligned, spots risks early, and improves the systems and workflows that track launch readiness.
What you’ll do
- Build and lead a small Launch Operations team focused on visibility across upcoming product launches and keeping cross-functional teams aligned using the PM-owned launch checklist.
- Start as the senior IC by prioritizing the most essential elements to track and report, then expand coverage as the function scales.
- Run a weekly launch accountability forum, including a weekly launch check-in and a leaderboard developed and driven with Product Manager input.
- Drive the weekly forum by spotting risks early, testing resolution approaches, and keeping momentum forward without taking over task execution yourself.
- Maintain a consistent accountability cadence across launch sizes, including major PR and investor launches, smaller feature updates, and multi-tier strategic initiatives.
- Own the launch checklist and ownership model, shifting away from PMs managing every detail toward direct functional lead ownership (for example, Legal handles legal approvals, PMM leads product naming, and RevOps manages SKU setups).
- Collaborate with Product Operations to refine the checklist over time by adding or removing items as needs evolve and distinguishing systemic gaps from one-off issues.
- Provide clear updates and digests to partner groups such as PMM, Legal, Engineering, Support, and RevOps so open items stay top of mind.
- Reinforce execution discipline: an item is not ready for launch unless it is assigned, dated, and visible.
- Increase launch visibility by pulling target launch dates from roadmap tools like Aha! or Jira, rather than relying on manually updated spreadsheets.
- Set criteria for when features enter the launch checklist process (typically 6–12 weeks before launch) and guide the initial workflow.
- Adapt launch systems and tools alongside Product Operations as the organization automates tracking views and matures its operational process.
- Partner closely with Product Marketing, Legal, RevOps, Engineering, and others to make execution seamless and help launches become world class.
What you bring
- 15+ years of experience in Product Operations, Program Management, or cross-functional tech operations inside product or engineering teams.
- Proven ability to run accountability rhythms such as recurring reviews, status dashboards, and operating cadence that build trust and drive results through influence.
- Demonstrated success managing or building teams of contractors and FTEs from the ground up.
- Comfort with roadmap tools (Aha!, Productboard) and issue tracking software (e.g., Jira, Linear), plus familiarity with spreadsheets and basic analytics.
- Strong understanding of product and software development lifecycles across different launch scales (new products vs. enhancements).
- Strong meeting facilitation skills to guide discussions, align stakeholders, and secure clear commitments.
- Clear written communication that makes progress updates and key takeaways easy for leadership and partners to digest.
- Ability to establish practical, hands-on processes today while identifying opportunities to automate and scale.
Tools you’ll use
Aha!, Jira, Productboard, Linear
How success is measured
- Leadership can accurately understand the status of any upcoming launch without needing manual follow-ups.
- Each launch checklist item is owned directly by the functional team executing the work, with early awareness and visibility for at-risk areas.
- At-risk items receive clear recovery plans right away, and blockers are resolved or escalated.
- Launch cadence scales across major releases and new capabilities, with potential to partner with other functions like Technical Project Management for complex, multi-team initiatives.
- Commercial and field teams receive timely, dependable visibility into launch timelines and feature availability, ideally with a rolling 90-day window view.
- You prove value first as the leading senior IC, then build and lead a team focused on launch health tracking across key strategic initiatives.
Salary: USD 247,000 - 297,000 per year. Location: Seattle, WA (onsite).
