Job Description

Indiana Packers Corporation is seeking a Product Manager to deliver strategic leadership for the bacon product category. This role owns category strategy and execution, serving as the category subject-matter expert while partnering across commercial, finance, and operations to grow revenue and market share. The position is onsite in Delphi, IN 46923.

Role Summary

In this new role, you will focus on the Bacon category and lead end-to-end category planning. Key areas include the innovation pipeline, pricing and margin management, customer insights, and cross-functional execution. The scope includes driving category performance against profitability objectives for the fiscal year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive product group profitability objectives for the fiscal year in line with the specified budget, including pricing, inventory, and product group assortment strategies.
  • Manage pricing activities on a daily, weekly, and seasonal basis (and other timing as applicable) to maximize profit potential, coordinated with the Director of Product Management and other commercial leadership team members.
  • Own inventory management within respective categories, including preparation and execution of seasonal needs, addressing distressed inventory through appropriate sales actions, coordinating fresh versus frozen requirements, and providing direction to planning teams as needed.
  • Develop and oversee general strategies across production areas that utilize raw materials for managed categories, such as boneless versus bone-in and fresh versus processed considerations.
  • Partner with FP&A and Operations to create, maintain, and manage B/E models for respective categories, using those models to guide inventory and sales strategies within the product group.
  • Serve as the primary contact for the Sales team by communicating product specifications, inventory levels, pricing, costing, and lead time requirements.
  • Negotiate, review, and approve pricing and trade agreements in coordination with Director-level leaders, including meaningful involvement in annualized RFP processes and assortment growth decisions for the categories.
  • Develop and maintain processes and workflows with other functional areas and departments related to the category, including FP&A, Operations, and Quality Assurance.
  • Coordinate and attend product reviews to compare execution against written specifications and identify drivers of variances and impacts to standards.
  • Monitor and address supply-demand imbalances and service level challenges.
  • Act as the category expert for a defined segment, providing guidance to FPS, operations, and sales.
  • May maintain relationships with key customers within the product group to keep alignment with sales and the broader industry tone.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Food Science, or related field (required).
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in category management, product management, brand management, or food manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using syndicated data sources such as IRI, Nielsen, or Circana.
  • Demonstrated P&L management experience.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • May travel up to 30% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA preferred.
  • Experience in protein (bacon), meat processing, or CPG industry strongly preferred.
  • SAP experience preferred.

Work Environment

You may occasionally be exposed to extreme site conditions, including fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. Noise can be loud and hearing protection is required. The role regularly involves working near moving mechanical parts and in cold, hot, and outdoor conditions, including inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.

Physical Demands

Work is primarily performed in an office setting in a manufacturing environment. You must be able to sit, talk, hear, frequently walk and stand, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. You may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision. The role requires use of standard office equipment such as a telephone, computer, and copier.
