Product Owner / Business Analyst - Payments
Job Description
Lead payments-focused product delivery by partnering with client stakeholders and translating corporate banking needs into validated Agile backlog work.
Responsibilities
- Partner with client stakeholders to understand business needs, clarify requirements, and provide functional guidance for payments and cash management
- Run requirements elicitation through workshops, sessions, and walkthroughs with business users and operations teams
- Convert client inputs into user stories, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria suitable for sprint execution
- Own product backlog activities: maintain, prioritize, refine, and ensure readiness for upcoming sprints
- Participate in Agile delivery ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Serve as the primary functional point of contact for questions from development, testing, and client teams
- Review solution designs to confirm alignment with payments, cash management, and corporate banking workflows
- Work with technology teams to validate upstream and downstream system integrations
- Support UAT activities, including test scenario definition, defect triage, and coordination with client users
- Analyze payment flows and ensure accuracy and compliance across SEPA, CHAPS, CHIPS, FEDWIRE, ACH, and SWIFT
- Collaborate with risk and compliance teams to align with Fraud, AML, KYC, and Sanctions requirements
- Provide regular status updates to clients and internal stakeholders on scope, progress, and risks
- Surface gaps, dependencies, and risks early and coordinate follow-through to drive resolution
- Build and maintain strong product and domain knowledge to advise clients on best practices
- Support post-implementation activities, including production issue analysis and root cause support
Requirements
- 8+ years experience as a Product Owner and/or Business Analyst in Corporate Banking or Transaction Banking
- 5+ years experience in requirements elicitation and analysis, including client workshops and stakeholder interviews
- 6+ years hands-on payments domain experience supporting EMEA and North America payment schemes
- 5+ years experience with payments processing and messaging, including SEPA, CHAPS, CHIPS, FEDWIRE, ACH
- 5+ years experience with payments processing and messaging, including SWIFT (MT/MX) and ISO 20022
- 4+ years experience delivering in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban), including backlog management and sprint ceremonies
- 3+ years experience collaborating with technology teams on system integrations (upstream and downstream interfaces)
- 2+ years experience in a client-facing role managing business stakeholders and cross-functional teams
- Strong working knowledge of Agile tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or equivalent
- Travel/Onsite: requires 2 days in-office at the client Charlotte, NC office
- Degree: Bachelors in computer science or equivalent work experience

Nice to Have

- Prior experience supporting tier-1 or global banks in Corporate or Transaction Banking
- Knowledge of SWIFT connectivity models (Alliance Access, Alliance Lite2, SCORE, MA-CUG)
- Experience with API-based integrations, microservices, or event-driven architectures
- Familiarity with real-time and instant payment schemes
- Exposure to regulatory or compliance-driven initiatives within banking
- Experience supporting cloud-based banking platforms or SaaS solutions
- Certifications such as CSPO, SAFe PO/PM, CBAP, or PMI-PBA
- Prior experience working in onsite–offshore delivery models
- Strong documentation skills using tools such as Confluence or similar knowledge platforms
Location: Charlotte, NC, United States (onsite)
Compensation: USD 60 - 62 per hourly
