Senior Product Manager
Job Description
Senior Product Manager for an end-to-end hardware plus subscription program, overseeing hardware, firmware, cloud data, analytics, and customer deliverables, reporting to the CTO, onsite in Albuquerque, NM.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end program spanning hardware, firmware, cloud platform, data analytics, and customer deliverables; define scope, approve how it works, and ensure on-time delivery against commitments.
- Translate customer needs, pilot learnings, and commercial strategy into clear requirements; maintain a single source of truth product definition referenced by sales, marketing, lab, and engineering; own trade-offs and the documentation behind them.
- Authorize functional direction including product behavior, integration patterns, user-facing features, and data deliverables; present scope and roadmap options to the CTO and CEO for decisions affecting commercial commitments.
- Develop and maintain a prioritized roadmap from current pilots through public launch to commercial scale; convert customer requests and sales asks into a sequenced backlog; run regular sprint cadences with engineering and analytics to meet commitments.
- Coordinate pilot deployments by sequencing installs, managing data access across customer systems, scheduling lab analyses, and ensuring delivery commitments across overlapping pilots.
- Own the cost-to-deliver model, influence pricing and packaging decisions, and translate program economics into a working artifact used by executives to guide customer commitments.
- Collaborate across functions including sales and marketing on commercial motion, with the lab on test integration, with field teams on install logistics, and with hardware and software engineering on delivery.
- Represent GroundWork externally by engaging customer product, performance, and asset management teams; advocate for the program's value at industry events, during sales engagements, and in customer reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of product management experience, including 3+ years as a senior individual contributor owning a product or program end-to-end; proven success shipping IoT or hardware-plus-software offerings to commercial customers.
- Hands-on experience with connected-device product lines — instrumentation, telemetry, time-series data, cloud ingestion, and customer-facing analytics or dashboards; comfortable across the full stack from sensor to API to report.
- Has authored business requirements and held sign-off on functional direction for a real product, not just executing someone else’s spec; able to make trade-off calls and stand behind them.
- Has shipped and scaled a recurring-revenue offering with upfront and recurring components; understands pilot-to-productization, pricing levers, and the economics of a subscription model layered on hardware.
- Experience owning a roadmap with multiple parallel engineering, analytics, and operations workstreams; comfortable running a sprint cadence and detailed program planning across overlapping efforts.
- Strong customer-facing credibility with the ability to defend product decisions before customer engineers, executives, and third-party reviewers; excellent written and verbal communication; produces product definitions that both sales and engineering can reference.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted tooling as a productive working surface; analyzes and ships work produced with AI assistance to accelerate cross-functional work.
- Experience in solar, wind, distributed-energy, or other utility-scale infrastructure is preferred but not required; ability to learn a solar domain as needed.
- Coachable, opinionated enough to drive a roadmap, and disciplined enough to manage sequencing across a multi-year program; thrives in a small-company environment with fast decision cycles.
