Job Description

The Senior Product Manager is responsible for end-to-end ownership of technical material handling software, controls, and AI/CV capabilities deployed across Amazon fulfillment sites, guiding work from customer problem discovery through deployment and sustained operation. This onsite role is based in Arlington, Virginia.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and own the product strategy, vision, and multi-quarter roadmap for the product area.
  • Translate customer needs into the problems to solve and determine the best sequencing.
  • Own business value framing, including operating cost, delivered entitlement, adoption trajectory, and reliability targets.
  • Decide when to build, buy, or partner with clear business justification.
  • Oversee the product from discovery through deployment and ongoing operational performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering leaders to define requirements, assess complexity, and guide technical direction.
  • Influence architecture through data driven contributions and validated customer evidence.
  • Assess whether to create new capabilities, extend existing systems, or leverage partner investments.
  • Define acceptance criteria that engineering must meet, clarifying what done means.
  • Conduct customer research via site visits, office hours, and direct observations in fulfillment facilities.
  • Consider internal operations and support teams as primary customers and gather their needs proactively.
  • Use data to identify performance trends, adoption patterns, and friction points for customers.
  • Convert customer pain into prioritized engineering work with quantified business justification.
  • Lead Phase Gate Reviews with Operations during deployment to live sites.
  • Ensure training content is delivered as a formal product requirement.
  • Own post launch support plans, including triage, issue management, and continuous improvement.
  • Define and monitor KPIs such as adoption, reliability, cost savings, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Proven experience defining and steering product roadmaps and strategy.
  • Track record delivering features and evaluating product tradeoffs.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering teams on technology decisions and product strategy.
  • Background managing technical products or online services.
  • Experience representing diverse customers and stakeholders in executive level prioritization and planning.
  • Proficiency with analytical tools such as Tableau, Qlikview, and QuickSight.
  • Experience building and driving adoption of tooling for automation equipment.

A Day in the Life

  • Your morning begins with reviewing telemetry from overnight performance across deployed sites to identify anomalies warranting investigation.
  • Mid morning you meet with your engineering lead to discuss technical trade-offs among three implementation options with different timelines and scalability implications.
