Job Description

Lead Disney Consumer Products’ Lifestyle Home design team, driving trend-right consumer lines across distribution channels while meeting financial targets.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and collaborate with an internal design team to concept, design, sketch, prototype, and deliver Lifestyle Home product lines.
  • Direct art-to-product work including 3D modeling and sample creation and development.
  • Ensure products deliver market-leading innovation and strong price/value across each tier of the value pyramid.
  • Lead multiple external vendors to develop product concepts aligned to the strategic design vision and the overall assortment mix.
  • Validate market relevance and support item incrementality through vendor concept development.
  • Coach design talent with consistent feedback and regular development check-ins for both direct reports and potential mentors.
  • Multi-task and prioritize multiple design projects running simultaneously across varying complexity levels.
  • Partner with broader product design and creative teams to shape up-front trends, creative direction, and future growth opportunities within the franchise and across product categories.
  • Build and socialize custom design tools (examples include concept boards, product decks, trend & shopping reports) and present retail pitches to cross-functional partners and creative leaders.
  • Align presentations to innovation, market and category relevancy, and the unique needs of the Disney guest.
  • Coordinate internal and external partners to keep design and development on time, on track, and on target from concept through on-stage set.
  • Lead product and packaging approvals via online systems and collaborative approval meetings.
  • Maintain quality standards across character execution, in-depth storytelling, and color, material, form, and function, with a focus on increasing profitability.
  • Monitor competitors, product innovation, and market dynamics.
  • Lead the operating budget for the category.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of product design experience, including lifestyle home product category experience.
  • 3+ years leading and managing; experience managing up to senior leaders and working across peers and partners.
  • Proven home decor proficiency, including trend storytelling and graphic creation, manipulation, and application across substrates.
  • Experience with assortment curation and the technical ability to translate conceptual ideas into tangible products.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment with rapid priority pivots.
  • Extensive knowledge of hardlines/softlines categories (raw materials, plastic, textiles, print, pattern, graphic composition, manufacturing).
  • Strong product design skills including 3D product design, technical design, sketching, creative application and manipulation of art, final mechanical art, and fabric and trim identification.
  • Strong computer software skills: MS Office, Photoshop, Illustrator.
  • Experience in 3D design and ZBrush is a plus.
  • Experience bridging execution and strategy by translating strategy into action.
  • Experience taking ownership of business results.
  • Ability to act as a day-to-day decision maker, filtering complex issues, finding solutions, gaining support, and implementing change.
  • Experience influencing key partners and stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiating skills.

Additional Information

  • Location: Kissimmee, FL (onsite)
  • Compensation (Florida hiring range): USD 132,600 to 177,700 per year
  • Base pay offered may vary based on internal equity and candidate geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits depending on level and position.
  • Full-time role.
  • Reports to the Director of Product Design.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in design or equivalent work experience.
  • Digital portfolio required; submit and share or disable any passwords to enable efficient review.
