Job Description

The Sr. Product Manager for Digital Onboarding at the Royal Bank of Canada guides the strategic direction and execution of onboarding capabilities. This onsite role in Minneapolis coordinates roadmap work, aligns 10+ RBC stakeholder groups, and drives long-term improvements to the onboarding capabilities and customer experience. It emphasizes cross-functional collaboration to translate business needs into actionable product outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Roadmap Management and Product Strategy: Develop and maintain a comprehensive product roadmap for the digital onboarding capability, balancing short-term operational needs with long-term strategic initiatives. Define the product vision that aligns with RBC’s objectives and customer needs.
  • Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary liaison for 10+ RBC stakeholder groups, understanding diverse needs and constraints. Facilitate alignment on priorities, timelines, and resource allocation across the organization.
  • Work Prioritization and Requirements Definition: Establish clear prioritization criteria, define detailed business requirements and acceptance criteria, and translate business needs into technical requirements for development teams.
  • Development Team Collaboration: Partner with development teams on estimation, planning, and execution; lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and delivery coordination; clarify requirements to support successful delivery.
  • Production Issue Identification and Resolution: Identify, analyze, and prioritize production issues impacting onboarding; lead root-cause investigations and coordinate resolutions to minimize disruption.
  • Long-Term Solution Development: Lead analysis of systemic issues and opportunities for holistic improvements; develop long-term strategic solutions aligned with business strategy and resources.
  • Vendor Relationship Management: Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers; monitor performance against SLAs and service agreements; escalate issues and coordinate resolutions.
  • Financial Planning and Budget Management: Develop and manage the Digital Onboarding team’s budget; forecast resource needs, plan investments in tools and systems, and manage spending to support strategic priorities.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership and Alignment: Provide leadership and strategic direction across the organization; drive alignment on priorities, timelines, and dependencies across multiple teams and stakeholder groups.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience managing production support or client-facing operations for onboarding applications or similar systems
  • 5+ years of people management experience, including hiring, coaching, and performance management
  • Domain expertise in wealth management and account onboarding/servicing
  • Proficiency with Salesforce case management and reporting
  • Strong operational and process management skills
  • Ability to analyze trends, identify patterns, and translate them into actionable insights
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders
