Staff Product Manager, Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
Job Description
This role leads Xometry's global Design for Manufacturability strategy and AI powered review capabilities, based in North Bethesda, MD (hybrid), overseeing the Intelligent DFM Workbench across geographies.
Responsibilities
- Vision & strategy: define and advance a multi‑year DFM roadmap that establishes a global workbench for staff and AI reviewers, beginning with foundational order routing to DFM engineers and expanding into an AI driven workflow.
- Own the Intelligent DFM Workbench: manage the single source of truth for what each order requires to be built correctly, with role based views for Staff, Buyers, and Partners.
- Partner with data science and ML engineering: collaborate to improve manufacturability models, geometry analysis, and evaluate Visual/3D Language Models, implementing a champion/challenger and golden‑dataset feedback loop to improve accuracy from every review.
- Drive measurable outcomes: define and monitor key metrics such as DFM handle time, sign‑off latency, gaps between paper promises and pre‑start capture, RMA rate, and regional rework, using them to prioritize the roadmap.
- Lead cross‑functionally: act as the hub between Engineering, Data Science, UX, Sourcing, Pricing, Order Systems, Quality, and DFM engineers/case managers, and present strategy, trade‑offs, and ROI to executive leadership.
Requirements
- 8+ years of product management experience, including leadership of AI/ML powered or technical products in a B2B, marketplace, or manufacturing/engineering environment
- Experience owning a system of record or complex data contract consumed by multiple downstream systems and roles, with human‑in‑the‑loop workflows
- Experience designing policy‑driven workflows such as approval routing, tiered sign‑off, and escalation logic rather than single‑user tools
- Comfort operating across regions and stakeholder groups to maintain a single global design standard despite pressure for customization
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, with the ability to distill technical and operational complexity for engineers and executives
- Rigorous, data‑driven approach to prioritization, experimentation, and measuring impact on cycle time, quality, and customer/partner satisfaction
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and DFM principles (CNC machining, sheet metal, additive manufacturing, injection molding); comfortable delving into geometry‑based feasibility rules
- Track record partnering with data science and ML engineering teams to ship models into production; experience with computer vision, 3D/geometric analysis, or applied LLM/VLM is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field; MBA or MS is a plus
