Staff Product Manager, Engineering Workflow Platforms
Job Description
Lucid Motors is seeking a Staff Product Manager for Engineering Workflow Platforms to own a key subset of platform capabilities. This onsite role in Phoenix, AZ focuses on platform vision and delivery, executive stakeholder leadership, and convergence across the data model and systems used to run engineering programs.
Role Overview
As a Staff Product Manager, you will own strategy and outcomes for a major capability area while shaping the platform roadmap in partnership with the manager. You will sequence delivery against real vehicle program gates, stand up new capabilities from inception, and represent the platform narrative in executive forums and Monthly Business Reviews. The work includes reconciling disagreements between systems, protecting model integrity against expedient one-off requests, and driving cross-functional organizational change that goes beyond software.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the strategy, roadmap, and outcomes for a major capability area, and contribute to the platform roadmap alongside the manager.
- Plan capability delivery against vehicle program gates, with the ability to state precisely how staffing or scope decisions impact gate success.
- Stand up a committed but unstarted capability from nothing by defining scope and phasing.
- Own the platform’s product narrative in Monthly Business Reviews and executive forums, including reporting on adoption, data quality, and gate readiness.
- Adjudicate source-of-truth decisions across systems that disagree, define reconciliation rules, and decide when the same field must be treated differently across functions.
- Protect model integrity against expedient one-off requests and explain refusals in terms stakeholders accept.
- Partner with the manager on trade-offs across data model, pipeline, application, and process ownership outside the system.
- Build relationships with VP-level and director-level stakeholders across Program Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, and the PMO.
- Drive decisions that require organizational change, including process ownership, accountability boundaries, and retirement of spreadsheets and side systems the platform replaces.
- Broker priority conflicts between functions and reach decisions that hold.
- Represent the platform in program reviews and gate reviews to keep the roadmap aligned to program needs.
- Conduct deep discovery for high-ambiguity roadmap problems, including those not yet fully defined by teams.
- Write specifications, decision records, and proposals covering the problem, options, trade-offs, blast radius on live production data, and rollout and rollback plans.
- Set the team’s bar for definition quality and review other product managers’ work against it.
- Own launches with real organizational risk, including phased rollout, pilot selection, readiness criteria, executive sponsorship, and a fallback if adoption stalls.
- Partner with Training and Communications on enablement and change management to support launch outcomes.
- Set standards for discovery, written definitions, acceptance, AI tooling, adoption measurement, and stakeholder engagement.
- Mentor colleagues and raise the level of independent ownership.
- Provide continuity cover for portfolio priorities so team outcomes do not depend on a single individual remaining.
Qualifications
- Substantial product management experience, including senior or lead ownership of an enterprise, internal platform, or business systems product, with end-to-end track record.
- Demonstrated ownership of a system of record rather than a reporting layer, including responsibility for data correctness and downstream consequences.
- Proven ability to drive organizational change, including retiring an entrenched process or legacy tool, moving dependent teams, and describing what was required.
- Executive communication and influence at VP level, including making recommendations senior stakeholders may initially resist.
- Strong systems and data thinking, including sources of truth, reconciliation logic, data modeling and taxonomy design, integration latency, and failure behavior when systems disagree.
- Excellent written communication, including strategy documents, decision records, and proposals that can be read and acted upon without live presentation.
- Data literacy sufficient for independent work, including Jira and JQL, working SQL or equivalent, and the ability to interrogate numbers before repeating them.
- Experience owning roadmaps with hard external deadlines and dependency structures, including judgment to phase scope to deliver value before deadlines.
- Demonstrated mentorship or practice leadership, regardless of whether formal management title is held.
- Effective use of GitHub Copilot or comparable AI assistants across research, analysis, prototyping, and drafting, with judgment to verify outputs rather than treat them as authoritative.

- Functional safety exposure, including ISO 26262 and ASIL decomposition, and evidence management required for a safety case.
- Experience with phase gate or stage gate governance and the executive reporting layer above it.
- Depth in the Atlassian ecosystem, including Jira architecture at scale, Jira Assets as a master data model, and applications built on Atlassian Forge.
- Technical background sufficient to prototype, query a warehouse, or read code, even if not shipping it.
