Technical Product Manager
Job Description
Optum is seeking a Technical Product Manager in the Chief Digital Office to help define, design, and deliver AI-powered technology solutions. This hybrid role in Eden Prairie, MN focuses on conversational AI virtual assistants and proactive outbound engagement, partnering across business, digital engineering, and data science to build scalable healthcare experiences.
The position blends product ownership with technical execution, turning business capabilities into clear requirements and measurable outcomes. You will work closely with engineering, data science, and architecture teams to define model criteria, test strategies, and product performance metrics.
What you’ll do
- Break down high-level business capabilities into manageable features, requirements, technical specifications, and user stories
- Own, prioritize, and manage the product backlog to align with business priorities, technology strategies, and engineering capacity
- Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges, including conversational AI virtual assistants (such as Cognigy, Google, and Amelia Bots) and proactive outbound engagement (such as NICE Proactive AI or Smartreach Outbound)
- Partner with engineering, data science, and architecture teams to create technical requirements, model criteria, and test strategies
- Assess emerging conversational AI and proactive contact center trends to inform solution design, platform development, and strategic innovation
- Use enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline internal product management workflows, automate routine tasks, and support continuous improvement
- Define and track key product performance metrics to measure success, drive post-launch refinements, and support high-quality software delivery
What you’ll bring
- 3+ years of experience working with NICE CXone products or capabilities (routing, interaction channels, or customer experience workflows)
- 3+ years of experience in technical product management, technical product ownership, or business systems analysis in a software engineering or technology environment
- 2+ years applying Agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban) to write technical requirements, decompose features, and manage active product backlogs
- 1+ years designing, configuring, or managing conversational AI virtual assistants (such as Google Bot)

Additional details
- Salary range: USD 72,800 - 130,000 per year (based on full-time employment)
- Pay varies based on factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, and more

Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of equivalent experience in technical product management, software engineering, or business analysis
- CSPO, Agile Product Manager certification, or Pragmatic Institute product management certification
- 1+ years managing, deploying, or designing AI/ML, automation, or data-intensive backend architecture–driven products
- 2+ years partnering directly with cross-functional technical teams (software developers, data scientists, architects, QA engineers) to launch technical features
- Broad understanding of the machine learning lifecycle, NLP, LLMs, or conversational AI systems
- Experience evaluating workflow automation opportunities and designing technology platforms to improve operational efficiency
- Experience with databases, SQL querying, and/or data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau to analyze product metrics
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, including translating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
