Principal, Product Manager

Workday is evolving how customers author and consume mission-critical enterprise data by building the next generation of Workday Reporting & Analytics. In this Principal Product Manager role (Pleasanton, CA, hybrid), you will help shape agentic AI and modern AI-driven insights for enterprise reporting, while owning feature definition, prioritization, and customer issue closure across one or more agile teams.

You will partner closely with customers, analysts, developers, architects, Support, peer product managers, and engineering to turn reporting needs into shippable capabilities, from core financial reporting workflows to conversational and AI-assisted authoring.

What you’ll do

• Bring your background in business intelligence, analytics, and financial reporting to execute the vision for Reporting and Analytics with modern AI-driven insights.
• Identify, specify, and prioritize features and capabilities, including core financials and conversational or AI-assisted reporting tools, using direct input from customers and cross-functional partners.
• Collaborate with the Workday support organization to triage customer-reported issues for the components you own, and work with peers and engineering to drive resolution.
• Act as Product Owner for one or more scrum teams by writing and prioritizing user stories, grooming the backlog, keeping the team focused, and communicating with stakeholders on a regular cadence.
• Partner with other Product Managers across Analytics and across AI/Agent and Application teams.
• Serve as an external product champion and the internal voice of the customer for the areas you own.
• Balance multiple projects, manage to deadlines, and deliver results as part of program management responsibilities.

What you bring

• 10+ years of experience in Product Management or in a role building Workday reporting and analytic solutions.
• 5+ years of experience in business intelligence or in the analytics domain.
• 3+ years of experience in a role building Financial Reporting or Business Intelligence solutions.
• Knowledge of Workday’s Report Writer, Composite Reports, or similar enterprise reporting tools is ideal.
• Experience building AI-assisted reporting capabilities such as natural language query, automated insights, or text-to-report authoring.
• A BA / BS / BE degree.
• Experience with web technologies or enterprise SaaS platforms.
• Excellent analytical skills, plus strong collaboration, verbal, and written communication skills.
• A fast-learning, detail-oriented approach that fits a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex financial and technical concepts to varied audiences.

Location and flexible work

• Location: Pleasanton, CA (hybrid)
• Flex Work model: at least 50% of time each quarter spent in the office or in the field with customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role).
• Remote home office roles may have opportunities to come together in Workday offices for important moments.

Compensation

• Salary range: USD 167,200 - 294,000 per year

Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $167,200 USD - $294,000 USD. This role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, and annual refresh stock grants.
