Product Design Director, Concierge Products
Job Description
Capital One is looking for a Product Design Director to lead the Concierge Products team within Experience Design. You will shape the design vision for the Velocity Black experience and other concierge and back-end agent experiences, helping teams deliver exceptional end-to-end native experiences that align to business objectives.
Location: Richmond, VA (onsite)
Compensation: USD 209,500 - 239,100 per year

What you will do
- Lead a cross-disciplinary team of designers and collaborate with research, as well as Product and Tech leadership, to drive design outcomes.
- Take ownership of high-impact, highly complex projects by defining and executing design strategy that supports the organization’s higher-level vision and business goals.
- Use product design leadership to raise the quality and maturity of the design practice across Capital One.
- Oversee and optimize tools, platforms, frameworks, and design systems, enabling your team to create artifacts such as vision stories, journey maps, blueprints, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes.
- Build an inclusive, collaborative team environment where people feel valued and heard, and set the tone for a culture of positive engagement.
- Champion customer and partner perspectives, reinforcing that business and customer outcomes work together to exceed baseline needs and expectations.
- Apply expert knowledge of products, processes, customers, competitors, and industry trends to guide how Design engages and solves business challenges.
- Share insights on technical advances and data capabilities, helping broader teams account for technical limitations while enabling bold solutions, efficient data destinations, and delivery outcomes.
- Coordinate across teams, portfolios, platforms, and lines of business to create more coherent experiences, accelerate delivery, and increase the value of design.
- Present work across levels and job functions with a strategic, human-centered approach that integrates design frameworks, data, and research insights to make complex problems actionable for senior stakeholders.
What you bring
- At least 8 years of experience in a product design role.
- At least 3 years of experience leading design teams.
- Experience with a design toolkit spanning product design, service design, design strategy, and content design.
- Experience leading product design teams across UX and UI, strategy, content, and research from strategy through delivery to market.
- Experience partnering with product managers, engineers, marketing, and analytics leaders across multiple business lines to shape strategy, OKRs, roadmaps, and operating models.
- Experience working within a design system.
- Proficiency with web and mobile technologies and platforms, including navigating technology considerations and constraints.
- Expertise with design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
- Experience managing an interdisciplinary design team.
- Proficiency in business case development that connects product and user experience decisions to business value.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and strong relationship building across complex organizations.
- Exceptional people management and development skills.
